God gave us 10 Commandments or specific rules. To violate any of these is sin. Jesus gave us a new Commandment - to love our neighbor as ourselves. Again this is a rule, to violate this is sin.

I think part of what is wrong in this world is that many people honestly do not know how to love themselves. They may think a lot of themselves, be haughty and proud; but, I don't think that is really love.

As a result of feeling that way about themselves they treat others that way and this causes hard feelings leading to the lack of love between people which violates Jesus commandment. When Jesus commandment or rule is broken then it follows that one of God's commandments will be broken next.

Many people like to think that they are suggestion or guidelines; however, Commandments are: directives, orders, demands, charges, instructions, mandates, or decrees.

The ten commandments are simply ten sins that God specifically tells us not to do....but there isn't really a difference between those sins and others, God hates it all!

Commandments are guidelines for good living.

Sin is when you violate the commandments.

Since Jesus came and was resurrected, instead of 10 commandments, we now have one that He gave us: Love one another and God.

Ergo, anything that isn't loving is sinful.

Sin is disobeying God. No man could keep the commandments because we are all sinners, so God gave us Jesus who went to the Cross for your sins and mine. He took our sins upon Himself a sinless man and it pleased God. So God said instead of keeping the commandments just believe on my Son Jesus and you can have eternal life. The animal sacrifices just covered sin. The sacrifice of Christ took away our sins if we believe in Him. God gives us a choice to either accept Jesus or reject Jesus. Accepting Jesus gives us everlasting life in heaven. Rejecting Jesus condemns us to hell.
