Excellent question. Most people blow this off most of their lives and just live like 'everyone else' does...and find there is no going back to change once you end up in hell...

The eternal life is the eternal death. There is no serious proof that we have a soul which will go on living after our death.
Death is like being deeply asleep, for me a better state that being in "paradise" which is nothing else that desire-thinking.

I don't know that my consciousness will outlive death. The short answer regarding 'me and eternity' is:

'I don't know'.
