Creationists say that they do that. Scientists, except the minority that are also creationist, don't accept it. I don't accept it either. Fine, but we should continue to try. Religious people should try to unify their belief with science, not just have it together with science as if there was two distinct ultimate realities: God on the religious side and the laws of nature on the science side. In the same way, scientists should realize that the laws of nature aren't just something outside us only accessible through external devices.

There is an obvious link between these two realities. Our brain is a tool to take full advantage of these laws of nature through an efficient technique of meditation. This is currently explored within science. Any experience related to God, in any form, must be an expression of the laws of nature. It is not a peculiar unification. It is not at all a diminution of God. It is a better appreciation of the laws of nature. It's the same God.

I'm working on a huge project for my college group and could use some help with the technicalities. I know that these themes can be found in both gospels, does anyone know the specific passages? Thanks for the help!

-Jesus is an example of a pray-er
-The kingdom of God is in your midst
-Women are disciples
-Whatever Jesus did the apostles can do
-The Holy Spirit fills/guides the people/the church
-Jesus and his followers engage in table fellowship with societal outcasts
-Jesus and his followers advocate the sharing of riches
-Discipleship is witnessing (observe, testify, be martyred)
-Riches are entrusted to one to be shared with others who have none
-Jesus’ death and the death of his followers is innocent martyrdom
-Ascension is a Lukan invention removing Jesus from the earth so the apostles can establish the church

All the religions I've heard of are really starting to depress me, and even atheism and agnostism are kind of depressing.
Is anyone on here truly happy? What do you practice?

I think I should go find some kittens.

"In the eyes of history, religious toleration is the highest evidence of culture in a people....It was not until the Western nations broke away from their religious law that they became more tolerant, and it was only when the Muslims fell away from their religious law [Shariah] that they declined in tolerance and other evidences of the highest culture.” -- Marmaduke Pickthall

says that to a certain extent, the Holy Spirit can be likened to electricity, " a force that can be adapted to perform a great variety of operations." ?

Is it just as human beings use electricity to accomplish a variety of purposes, so God uses the impersonal force known as the Holy Spirit to accomplish His purposes?

How could anyone trust impersonal force like that?

My real question is:
How do you die for someone's sins?

Cause it makes no sense.
I mean, how do you die for an act that violates a moral rule or the state of having committed such a violation in the first place? It doesn't help anyone or make a difference.

People always talk about 'Jesus died for our sins'.
I don't get it. Someone explain.

(Sorry for the misleading topic title).

Why do you care why atheists are here? Why do you engage Pagans and Satanists? Especially Satanists?

Should we try to understand the devil before we rebuke him? Should we get all warm and cozy with him and all ourselves to be tricked into Hellfire?

Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; And I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

I don't get it. You are both supposed to be Christians. Your hatred sickens me. You are full of misinformation and waste so much energy . I guess I should be grateful, at least you are not attacking us atheists.

Okay, so the subject of "lust" came up in church recently and a friend and I have been discussing and debating about this. We know that Jesus said that if a man looks at a woman with lust, then he has committed adultery with her in his heart… but it came to mind “what constitutes ‘lust’?”
I mean, is it looking at a woman and thinking she’s cute? Is it looking a woman up and down and thinking of ways to seduce her? Okay, that second one is an obvious yes, but you get the point… where is the line?

Webster’s dictionary says lust is “intense longing for possession or enjoyment; passionate or lewd desire”… but does that really cover what Jesus meant? Is looking a woman over and saying she’s hot constitute lust? The argument was even brought up that if that is lust, then what about when a guy looks at a hot car (like a classic Corvette or Mustang) the same way? is that lust as well?

I was born a psychic and people have hated me and feared me because of it. I have given people good and bad news for free. I tell them the truth and 9 time out of 10 it does happpen the way I say it does and then People freak when it is good or bad.

So why do they ask?

So why do people hate Psychics?

Oh and Please don't ask me for a reading unless you are willing to pay me to do it. People just keep asking and asking and asking and they think and feel that I owe them something because just because I am what I am. It is really frustrating.
