Only if they actually show up. Deities really get especially pissed off when you interrupt their vacation time. How would you like it?
So chances are, the one you called and the one that wants to kick your butt are the same one.

Not a Wiccan, but as long as all invocations are done with respect and an offering is left in return, there's nothing to worry about. I've never had any scary experiences, and I'm a Theistic Satanist.
Other TS's that I know and work with have, in the past, had a few frightening encounters. Even though we don't believe in Satan as a being of pure evil, he is a very outspoken deity and will not think twice about making his unhappiness obvious.
Its important not to fight for control, you are petitioning a higher power than yourself and you should treat your deities like a wise mentor who has much to offer and teach you. If you try to exploit your relationship with your deity as a tribute to your own power than I can guarantee you will be shown how out of control and powerless you really are.
I think that there are certain "courtesies" in the divine spiritual world -- for example, if I called upon my deity and another showed up try to "mess with me" than it would be a discourtesy to Satan and like a previous answerer (Gypsy)said, there would be some ************, but it wouldn't be mine. You have to put trust in your patron/matron deities.

Are you afraid of "summoning" the air you breathe?
No. The Lord and the Lady are always present -- the universe is Their living body. The act of "summoning" them (which would be profoundly disrespectful, don't you think?) is something that a Wiccan would never try.
What we actually DO is invite the Goddess and the God to be present in sacred space and to bless our rites. This is more of a process of focussing the mind of the Wiccan on the Divine presence than calling the Divine presence to be there, since, as noted, They are everywhere and always to begin with.

We do not summon deities. We invite them. Whether they show up is entirely up to them, and if another (uninvited) deity wanted to show up it could do so whether I was inviting someone or not. He could show up while I was making breakfast. That's part of being a deity. But I've never been aware of something other than what was invited. And no, i do not find the experience frightening. Potentially awe-inspiring, but not frightening. Most often, however it's a subtle presence. They don't show up with ILM special effects.

Why would one wanted to harm me? The Deity(ies) are there to help. No, never scary. Exhilarating, not scary! By the way if it were, I would neither be Wicca nor a solitary practitioner! I also request their presence, not summon or demand!
Blessed Be!

Fear, and so much more.
"I have walked blkac lava fields of the northern hemisphere
I have travelled the Andes range, across Pacific isles
There is no escape in the waking world from that which is approaching us fast
Salvation is drawn from our childhoods dreams
In lands of beauty untainted by cynicism
I put on my mask
I walk down the path
I go through the arch
Outside the gate
He invokes entities vast and mindless!
We shall taste unimaginable joys a thousand times greater than these!
And when the stars assume their rightful place, man liberates a mindless race
Morals and laws shall be thrown aside - tap the millenial flame with pride
Gaze with wonder, embrace your fate
- A madman looks outside the gate!
I put on my mask
I walk down the path
I go through the arch
I close the gate"

Well... You probably didn't cast your circle right if that happens. I typically call for protection before hand and that keeps me from being harmed. No evil should be allowed into your circle.
And why are you summoning? The Lord and Lady aren't at your beck and call. And they aren't evil. You have nothing to fear from our Lord and Lady!

This is one of the reasons I gave up being a witch. While my High Priest was alive, my trust in his ability to control the situation, and to banish any entity who might try to invade, made me quite courageous. He knew better than to summon any entity he could not subsequently banish. But many witches do not, and find themselves in real trouble.
Witchcraft is risky business. Wicca specifically is being treated more like a brand name these days, so I won't speak for them. But ceremonial magick needs to be taught by someone in whom you can have perfect trust, and there are not too many of those around.

I have been practicing invocations in a solitary manor and see nothing to fear from this(very novice). To me it is simply intensifying the bond with the devine forces of nature, which are everywhere and with me all the time anyhow, so why fear what I already know? .
