On January 4th, 1880 the President,Prophet,Seer and Revelator of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, John Taylor spoke these words,

"We believe in honesty, morality and purity ; but when they enact tyrannical laws, forbidding us the free excercise of our religion, we cannot submit. God is greater than the United States, and when the Government conflicts with heaven, we will be ranged under the banner of heaven and against the government.... Polygamy is a divine institution. It has been handed down direct from god. The United States cannot abolish it. No nation on earth can prevent it, nor all the nations of the earth combined,...... I defy the United States; I will obey god.

Do you practice this belief ?

.......it is absurd how many christians think that the fact that religious broadcasting (trinity broadcasting, ect) is sent by sattelite across the world and marginal amounts of evangelism is preached, then adherents of other faiths like islam and buddhism are "accountable" for their disbelief.
i think that it is crazy how so many christians glibbly offer that "the christian message is out there for all who want to hear, and it is those follow their native religion are proactively denying christ and god"

can't we agree that the idea of your religion being false and theirs being true is seems just as absurd to you as it sounds to a muslim man? You are never gonna take the claims of islam seriously just as well as a muslim man will never take the idea of christianity being true seriously.

it's so sad how so many people can sit there and say that this is not a justifiable contention.

I'm Catholic and I always wondered how to say the Novena. If you could give me a website or a step-by-step method on how to pray a Novena, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Im in high school, and probably the last person anyone would think to be a Priest. I just got confirmed and have been thinking to become a Priest. Im not really smart or a really good kid or anything, Ive got a 3.2-3.3 average and havent been in trouble with the law but have made some bad decisions.

How do I become a Catholic Priest if ive gone through all of the sacraments that I could have at my age, whats the whole process, and how does someone get a job as a Priest after they have finished studying and college?

And how do I come out and tell my parents thats what I want to do? I know that might seem kind of odd, but it feels kind of awkward, Im not sure why.

Thanks a lot

I have been waiting on the Lord for a long time for something I truly need, and I just told God I have done all I can and the ball is in your court and I need Him to intervene because I dont know what to do anymore and I am at a standstill and I was wondering if any of you ever went through a time where God did not answer your prayers? What do you do when God is silent?

Just curious. I tend to believe that there is some higher power, but generally, who or what created life doesn't care if we ponder his/her/their existence, but instead follow our consciences and try to be positive. What I love about not belonging to a church anymore is that I feel free to define myself, not let a religion tell me what I should and shouldn't believe.

the whole God thing but its just really difficult. Infact, it gives me headaches if I think about it too much. I just want to do what is right. I dont want to be a Pascal's wager christian but one who genuinely believes. The arguments on both spectrums are so strong that its like its own battle along side with trying to understand christianity. What should I do? I once tried to really get intouch with God because christianity in itself is so overwhelming sosmetimes but that only worked for so long. Am clearly very confused..please Help!!

Many churches teach this, but the Bible says that no man can “accept” Christ because all men are spiritually dead:
We read in Ephesians 2:1 And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.

The problem is that the Bible declares that man is spiritually dead in sin and totally incapable of mustering up faith in himself to salvation:
And there is none that calleth upon Thy Name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of Thee:… (Isaiah 64:7)
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. (Romans 3:11)
No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him:… (John 6:44)

When I was fifteen years old, I ran away from home. Now, I don't recommend this to anyone, but, I was brought up in a fine Christian home. A "Mommie Dearest" meets "American Psycho" Christian home. And there came a point in time when I realized, against my own heartfelt feelings, that if I did not leave that home, I would surely die soon. So I ran away. Now, 15 year old kids don't usually fare very well on the street, but I met a lady named Pat. She was a an elderly lady. She saw me on the street and offered to buy me lunch. I ate. She asked if I had a place. I said no. She said "come with me". I did. She gave me a free place to live, and her house was full of witches. Some hated me, because I was young and cute, some didn't acknowledge my existence, but most of them showed me a tender kindness I had never known before, and rarely since. I stayed in that house for a while, and learned the tarot, how to cast spells, how to love, but , then I started to drift. I forgot about this love.

This is sort of a related question about the dream that I asked for interpretation of the other day.

I was sitting thinking to myself today as I was trying to decide who to chose as the best answer, that I always have had odd dreams – In some of them I have been scared in others I haven’t but all my life I have had dreams of what could be described to have been “another world”

So I was just wondering does anyone think it is possible that my dreams actually are real (or so to speak) that they are actually dreams of lives that I have lived in ancient worlds that have long been forgotten

I am just asking for opinions here possible or not and the reason why!!

Many thanks

Jay
