I've seen a couple of remarks this weekend that claimed those in Paganism were doing so simply to be "trendy". I wonder... how long have the Pagans been Pagan?

I'll start. I've been a Pagan for 24 years. I am 36 (might as well say 37 - one more month and I'm there). Do the math. That's some "Trend".

I'm starting to get bummed out! I thought that they pick a bride for you. That's the way it looked on the commercials. I don't think it's worth it because I still don't have a woman. Geez!

Hmm, Brigham Young never had this much trouble!

...neither Christ or Mohammed could have ascended into heaven in their bodily form due to the extreme conditions of space above about 10-15 thousand feet? The satellites sent up as well as the information sent back by astronauts in the International space station show that it is very cold and airless out there. Any human rising to heights above 10-15 thousand feet needs an oxygen mask and some heat to keep from freezing while the vacuum of space and the temperature of much below minus 400 degrees F rrequires a space suit to live.

There could have been no Angels with wings to meet Christ and no purchase for Mohammeds horse's hoofs on their way to heaven. No one without a space suit and rocket can go to another planet. How do you explain both Christs and Mohammed's ascension?

Our prison population is over flowing, and it doesn't seem to work, why don't we execute all murders and send all child molesters to guyana, devils island or somewhere unpleasant.

There is no good reason not to be a Christian. All you need is to read the Bible and have a good feeling that lets you know it is true. You don't need scientific evidence. Scientists once thought the world was flat.

Just have faith. Think about it and you will get a feeling that it is true. This will let you know for a FACT that it is real.

You need to do this because if you are not a Christian, it doesn't matter how good of a person you are, you will burn in Hell for all eternity.

Agree?

This happened after sunset. I was sitting on the front porch with my mother as my two pet chickens were near. Suddenly the rooster made a frightened noise- the same noise he makes when he sees a potential predator. I looked around to see if there was a cat nearby. There was no cat. He made the same noise again. I looked again. Still- no predator. I was wondering why he was scared. "Why are you scared?" I asked him. I asked my mother and she said "Maybe he saw a ghost. Sometimes animals see ghosts when people don't see them." That's eerie. At Vicky's house in Bohol- each night her dogs howled in an eerie way outside. People say "They are seeing ghosts!" Last June Janelle told me when she was walking home from the SM mall in the evening- she saw something eerie. They were walking from the entrance when Janelle saw a couple stand by the intersection. The lady was wearing a long white nightgown (not a sexy one- just a modest one with elbow length sleeves) (to be continued)

If it is seen and celebrated as secular (santa, reindeer, frosty, presents, etc) Why are schools and businesses nixing the whole idea all together and calling it winterfest, etc?

I heard that that rock represented more than just a rock.
I am writing about Numbers Chapter 20 of the King James Bible.
Moses got punished for striking the rock instead of speaking to it.
Someone explain what was wrong.

I don't get this. They mock Elisha for being bald, which, as I understand it, was a huge offense for the time. Elisha curses them in the name of the lord, and two bears come down and maul the kids. Why? What is the context of this that I may be missing, and why is it justifiable to try and kill (it doesn't say if they were killed or not, I'll assume not) 42 people for insulting someone?

You can see the verses here:

It has been a while since I purchased a new study Bible. I love the ones I have, however I know that they are always coming out with newer study content, notes, etc. I saw one the other day called "The Archeology Study Bible" it looked interesting with pics, charts, etc. Does anyone have this? I want to study more about the history / culture during the time of the prophets,Jesus, the apostles etc, as it relates to scripture .Any suggestions?

Where I grew up, there were plenty of 'Catholics,' but none of them took their religion very seriously. When I dated a Catholic girl, I never had to wonder if she would put out for me, since she always would.

The same was NOT true of other religions - there were some truly hardcore Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, for example. But no hardcore Catholics.

Is 'devout Catholic' mostly an oxymoron? Or are there actually devout Catholics out there somewhere? My impression is that Catholicism is more of a social thing than a real religion. If you are 'Catholic,' you probably go to church like twice a year, and that's it.

I like that system. I've never met any 'Catholic fanatics,' but I have met several Catholics who say they might be atheists.

The term "Wicca" encompasses a wide variety of practices and beliefs -- perhaps too wide for some folks' liking. Lately I've been in discussions with British Traditional Wiccans in particular about what, exactly, constitutes a Wiccan (or Neo-Wiccan as the case may be).

So... in your opinion, what minimum characteristics DOES it take to be called a Wiccan? Is it enough to adhere to the Wiccan Rede, acknowledge the sabbats, and honor the Goddess and the God? Or is there more to it? Or even less? And what do you think of the term Neo-Wiccan for those who are not of BTW lineage?

Thanks in advance to all who take the time to answer. :-)

Hi, I have found something fishy with the bible in terms of translation. Here is the verse in question: Isaiah 18:2,7
Look at the KJV translation of these verses.
Then, look at the translations of every other bible.

I found that at least with my own bibles, they are different. One describes the people in this passage as a nation "meted out and trodden down" , the others describe the people as being a "powerful and oppressive nation"
Why the contradiction?
Which bible has the better translation?
