Im not saying that it should be JUST Christianity in schools, im sayint that it should be ok, for kids like myself, to be able to express it in their own way without getting in trouble, i wouldnt care if someone from another religion talked about it, its their own choice, all people should be able to express their own religion. im just speaking in terms for Christianity because thats what i am. no harm there=D

As a Christian, I think it's important for me to able to follow my faith in school. If that means wearing a cross necklace, praying in public, or carrying a Bible in my backpack, alright. However, I would never keep a student of another faith from following their own religion in school, as well. Likewise, if a student pesters a student of another faith to convert and the other student is uncomfortable with the conversation, a teacher should step in and stop it. Also, a teacher/school administrator should NEVER lead prayer or show favoritism to a specific religion in a public school. Forcing people to participate in a religion in which they don't believe is not only unconstitutional, it also cheapens the religion itself by making it all about appearances instead of faith.

This is so remarkably one-sided and obviously right-wing religious propaganda that it is amazing that anyone would take it seriously. To go through the entire thing and say why nearly every point is wrong would take too much time and too much space, even for me!

Teens had sex long before there were ever condoms available in schools.

Heavy metal music has been proved over and over again NOT to influence kids to kill themselves or anyone else.

No one cares if individual students want to read the Bible in the building, its when they want to read the Bible to everyone regardless of whether or not they wish to hear it that there is a problem. And the Bible says FAR more than "Thou shalt not kill" or "Thou shalt not steal", it also says that every other religion is an abomination. How many Buddhists, Hindu, Muslim and Jews want to have their children taught THAT in school? Why should they?

No one cares (or should care) if Christians express their belief in school. The problem is that "Christian warriors" want to do far more than "show their faith". They want to preach to the world, and change the nation so that it becomes a "Christian country" and part of doing that is to be allowed to have kids learn about it in school.

Another part of "putting God back in the school) is to make sure that all other faiths are kept OUT. The person that made that diatribe would likely not be happy if along with the Christian God came Krishna, Buddha, Muhammad and the Goddess and God.

It's OK for people to show their belief in whatever in school. Doesn't bother me at all. What bothers me is state-advocated proselytizing. The problem is, a lot of Christians don't know the difference and try to cry "persecution!" when they're not allowed to proselytize and bother everyone.

Just because some people would prefer to have public schools be religion-neutral doesn't mean they're trying to turn the youth of America into Godless heathens. Personally, I don't want my taxes going to promote YOUR god to my children.

Hmm, now see, here's the thing. I worked in an almost all Jewish neighborhood where the kids never talked about god in school. Not once did I hear god mentioned, these kids were not going to church and not even synagogue. Their was never one fight in the school and they listened and met state standards.

I now work in a highly Christian school, and in fact, I work with the kids with behavior disorders. The more Christian the home, the worst the kid is. The most psycho Christian family has the kid who tells me he is going to kill me and stab me to death.

What I found is, it really has to do with what you as a parent teach your kids. If you tell them things are bad and make sure they don't do it, then they don't. God has nothing to do with it. I was raised atheist and was one of the best students in my school.

Why is it that atheist commit less crime. Your argument just doesn't sand up. Sorry.

Well in public schools is not ok because there is kids from a-lot of other religions that might get offended, or feel uncomfortable because lets say theri teaching them about the bible, and making them pray in the morning, but htere are kids who are of other religions that might not feel very well about this. I think that if you want to profess your religion in school, go to a religious school like a Catholic, Baptist, Jewish, or Muslim institute where there is people with your same spiritual ideals.

A muslim woman tried to put a Ramadan display in a public elementary school in Michigan. Two days later public outcry caused its removal. It should be noted that the school in question has a Christmas play every year. It seems that if religion should find a home in schools it should be inclusive. Freedom of Religion and all...

The problem is generally that Christians want to be able to do it but then freak out if someone wears a pentacle to school screaming that its something that it's not. Either EVERYONE has the freedom or no one does. I am for the everyone myself.
In the end, school is for school, church and home are for god/s. I dont WANT the school teaching religion. That is LAZY. Period. It's YOUR kid, YOU teach them.

-_- Listen if a Wiccan brought their symbol to school then the Christians would simply riot. Which is wrong since freedom goes always. Why should should Christians be allowed to bring their views to school when they themselves would riot at the thought of other theologies being shown to their kids at school?

As long as other religions are allowed into the schools I have no problem with it. But all religions should be represented not just the one.

Sigh. Ever heard of the 1st substitute? the only the place it prohibits any "company of religion?" If the government (which operates public faculties) teaches a faith, this is "installation" a faith. this is unconstitutional. the only way it would not be, is that if equivalent time have been given to coaching ALL religions (and there are 1000's of them), and each became into provided incredibly thoroughly objectively. that could leave no time for math, english, technology, etc. in a school day, and there could by no potential be thoroughly objective coaching (think of a non secular christian instructor could ever objectively practice Buddhism, whilst they have self belief this is fake?). So faith isn't taught in faculties, and is left to persons to income on their very own in the event that they or their families are interested in it. "some time past in colonial circumstances the became right into a christian united states of america..." No, it wasn't. the U. S. has by no potential been a christian united states of america. It has, on the grounds that its inception, been a mundane constitutional republic without state faith of any variety. There weren't any public faculties in maximum places interior the country for many of our historic previous, and private faculties can practice any faith they decide to. "And who made the training stop?" the 1st project to coaching faith in faculties got here from Catholics in long island city, approximately two decades after the 1st public faculties there have been typical. lots of those public faculties have been coaching protestant christian concepts in college, such as asserting that Caholicism became into "evil" and that the pope became into "a servant of the devil." Catholics in long island challenged those teachings as unconstitutional under the 1st substitute, and that they gained. by the years greater such stressful situations got here, in different areas of the country, and various of those circumstances have been given to the U. S. superb court docket, the place they ruled wisely that non secular coaching in public faculties became into no longer constitutional. "Freedom of religion" potential you're unfastened to have self belief (or no longer have self belief) despite you want approximately faith -- it does no longer mean you get to impose your ideals on incredibly everyone else, or that the government would desire to propose your particular faith. no one's interfering with your top to have self belief despite you elect to. Peace.
