This is a very good question.

A Christian who is certain of Heaven may still desire to serve God on earth. You can't share Jesus with unbelievers in heaven. Earth is full of suffering which we can only alleviate while here. We have loved ones to care for here. That said, there does come a time when the prayer is for peace and a good death.

Yes, we are glad to be going to Heaven but there are many family members and friends who are not saved. We would like to see them saved before we go. Also, we don't want to leave our husbands, wives, children alone to live without us. There are many who depend on those who are sick. That is some of the reasons why we ask to be spared. Why would a Mother with little children want to die now and leave her children? Think about it...not as simple as you thought is it?

The better question for conservative theists might be; why do they go modern doctors who are practitioners of the evolutionary theory they claim is false? If they had real faith – as they claim – praying to their God should be all that they need.

Of course, we know the real reason; and that is – doctors really can heal people but Gods can’t cure squat.

Well, yes they believe that Heaven will be a better place, but they have loved ones here who need them and will be hurt by their passing. And perhaps they don't want to suffer before their death. It is a natural thing to want to be well and healthy. Our instinct for survival kicks in when we are sick and we seek wellness.

Perhaps L/R heavens they came from are why they're sick.
For a fall from grace is to plural L/R "hands" of God on high;
And both such law law hands of this God oppress people;
And oppression is not uplifting, but rather it's casting down.

Repeating Law is Law Law. Grace is not Law Law.
Grace us heaven is notably higher than the heavens.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Uh, Not all sicknesses lead to death, Just misery. To be absent from this body is to be WITH God.
We are ready for that. However the body is natural and it has natural failings. It sucks to be sick. No matter who you are..

Peace & God bless from Texas.. <><

I believe you hope to get better when you're sick. I don't hear the excuse that atheists want to go the grave.
