if there is such a thing, I think I qualify...

I vote republican, almost excluseively,
I hate government programs,
I believe in lower taxes,
I'm against gay marriage, by definition, not principle (let them name it something else, it just isn't marriage...)
I voted for Bush, TWICE, and if it were possible I'd vote for him again....

I have high moral standards....

I am undoubtedly Atheist....

I believe science has more to teach us than theology...

I accell in philosophy...

What do you think?

If, say, a group of people who called themselves "Satanists" banded together and rebuilt New Orleans with their own money and labor, would it still be good, or would some people consider the work, despite the benefit to society, to be evil because of the name the people go by?

Is a good deed only as good as the doer? Or do good deeds speak for themselves? Why would a Good God reject the doers of Good deeds? Would "Satan" be pleased by the acts of such followers? If not, would not these deeds please God?

Isn't this like going to a 350 pounder for diet advice?

None of them have any wives or successful relationships with women, so why don't they just admit they are not the best person to come to for this advice. How can they possibly expect to have any moral authority on how all the dynamics of a marriage relationship works?

I had an interesting conversation with my friend this weekend. I was eager to talk to him about religion because it would be the first time since I stopped believing. When I asked him what convinces him that God is real, he gave me the same old answer we're all used to getting: That he can't explain it with evidence, but things in his life have happened that have made him realize God is real, such as answered prayer, signs from God, etc. He basically gave me a few scenarios in his past where he has been tempted to do something that would have gotten him into major trouble, but because God told him not to do it (either by putting a thought into his head or by something happening that he interpreted as a sign from God), he didn't proceed with whatever the temptation was and managed to keep himself out of trouble.

I am inclined to believe he was listening to himself, and not God.

Either way, if it prompts a person to realize an act is wrong, is religion useful?

I'd like specific examples or reasons. I am wondering exactly what convinces you that the world was designed by a supreme creator. What about nature makes you think it had to be designed?

witness? Compared to trying to entice the unbelievers with acceptance, tolerance, and beguile them? Trusting not in ourselves but the Holy Spirit to draw them?

Satori is sometimes loosely used interchangeably with Kensho, but Kensho refers to the first perception of the Buddha-Nature or True-Nature, sometimes referred to as "awakening". Kensho is not a permanent state of enlightenment, but rather a clear glimpse of the true nature of creation. Satori on the other hand refers to "deep" or lasting enlightenment.

As an analogy, we may think of a baby when it first walks. After much effort, it stands upright, finds its balance and walks a few steps (kensho), then falls. After continued effort the child will one day find that it is able to walk all the time (satori).

Where in the Bible does it say it is to be taken literally? And that it is the only source?

Please only respond if you can answer the question.

I am a believing Christian who can't figure out where my fellow Christians got this information.

the reason i ask the mojority of my questions to christians is that while many of them are annoying, they answer the questions for the most part pleasantly.
but when i see a question aimed at the atheist group, the majority of them seem to leave much more angry comments, lol
so has anyone else noticed this as well?
why do you think the christians overall are more pleasant in answering questions than the atheists?
(this is aimed at everyone, not just one group)

(The washing of the feet)...In verse27, & after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, "That thou doest, do quickly." Or was John referring back to the Supper in verse 27?

And Jesus had also said one was unclean before the washing of the feet that one was unclean. Verse10

What are other people mistaking for God?

People who are a different religion, who worship gods that don't act like yours, claim to have felt, heard, seen, or spoken to him.

Is God giving mixed messages? Are they lying? Are they confused? Are you sure they are wrong?

Polonium 218 halo in a granite rock has a half life of about three minutes. In other words, it takes very little time for this radioactive isotope to fully break down and create this halo in the granite. If the rock is heated, it destroys these halos. According to evolutionary geology, the granites now containing these special halos had originally formed as hot magma slowly cooled over long ages. On the other hand, the radioactivity responsible for these special halos had such a fleeting existence that it would have disappeared long before the magma had time to cool and form the granite rocks. How did they get there?
