Why would you choose not to believe in Ra and risk having your heart eaten by Ammut?
No - seriously. Because whatever answer you give to that question is likely the answer that a non-Christian would give to YOUR question.

Having a Belief in "God" has no rewards such as Everlasting Life, heaven and so on as this concept is Christian.
Christianity being One religion of Many.
A personality, upon the physical death (one of many) will pass on to meet their higher self; this meeting is their personal reflection of reality and is their expectation upon Physical Death. This direct reflection, or, expectation is one of transition as it makes the whole episode believable and clues them in they "are dead".
For those experiencing the typical Near Death episode one can see how they vary in degree and makeup. Some see Jesus, some Mohammad, some see "hell" and some see "heaven". All of this is about them, their innse feelings about reality and themselves as they fit into reality.
Any hell found has no hold as well as any heaven found is not "the last" resting place as there is no rest for the lazy. Hell has no torment for anyone.
For those whom dwell on ideas of everlasting peace and tranquility I would submit; your still on the job.
Reality is larger than any religion can claim hold of. Each personality is on a trek of Truth. The truth being to find yourself as it relates to "God", that non-religious concept within reality.
Your question ask readers why they choose what they choose and then you place a Caveat advising them "to choose God" or risk loosing eternal life.
This is a very big demand, or wish, and limits your views in the true nature of reality.
Those whom Judge others are to busy looking at others in thier conduct and should self examine.

How am I risking loosing an after life? Oh you are assuming that it's the ONLY afterlife?
I see believing in your god risking my afterlife. I like my path and I like where it will take me. Why would I risk loosing that by believing in YOUR god? That makes no sense.

Belief is a choice. To believe is "to accept as true". As long as God has not been proven to be nonexistent, a belief in God is a rational belief.
Those who choose not to believe in God do so because they despise the idea of God constantly watching them and judging them. Their love of independence has won.

Pascal's wager.
Why do you risk hell by not worshipping Shiva and Krishnu or Zeus for that matter? Might you be risking your 'soul' by worshipping the wrong gods? You've assumed you have eternal life - why? People die, we're material creatures and our sentience stops when our bodies stop processing information.
There's lots of other problems with Pascal's wager. Many people have written out standard responses to it. Its not a very good argument, is it really?

This question is only relevant if you have not realized "The LIFE". LIFE "IS" eternal and death is only a mis-understanding of the LIFE. Mainly it is based on the idea" I am a body".

In other words, religion as fire insurance. If you follow God to save your own Self then you haven't given your life up (he who saves his life will lose it). Romans is full of reasons this isn't the way to approach religion.

How do you know that? How do you know that god exist? Can you prove to me that he does? And YES it is you who has to prove to me that he is real. It is not for me to prove a negative.
Also which god are you talking about? Zeus? Poseidon? RA?
Also my dear I rather take the Atheist's Wager than the silly Pascal Wager.
Not sure what the Atheist's wager is, well look it up

You make it sound like we have a choice in the matter.
The lack of evidence COMPELS me to deny the existence of your god.
I could no more choose to believe in your god than you could choose to believe that the world is rhombus-shaped and carried in the pincers of two gigantic lobsters named Keith and Esmeralda.
I could PRETEND to believe; but if you're right and God does exist, do you really think it would fool him?
And besides -- what's so special about belief? How do you know that it wouldn't be generosity, or seeking knowledge, or healthy skepticism that wouldn't be most important to God?

NOTHING is "eternal". NOTHING. The day will come when our sun will die and destroy our entire solar system. And which "god" are you speaking of ? There are many, as well as goddess.
