What are other people mistaking for God?

People who are a different religion, who worship gods that don't act like yours, claim to have felt, heard, seen, or spoken to him.

Is God giving mixed messages? Are they lying? Are they confused? Are you sure they are wrong?

They aren't necessarily mistaking anything for God.

God is too big for any of us to have a full picture of Him. He is eternal and infinite. We aren't.

So when people argue about who's worshiping the right deity, especially (not exclusively) among Christian denominations, what they are really arguing about is who has the right concept of God.

The answer is: they're all right to an extent. They're just incomplete.

If we could stop arguing long enough to put all our partial pieces together, we'd having something of a truer, bigger picture of God. Not only that, but the experience would be unifying instead of factious.

What are these other Gods you are talking about? Do you mean Buddha? or Ra, the Sun God? But, I have a feeling you are asking about something else.

I am afraid you are referring to Islamics who worship Allah, because (and I'm ALWAYS surprised at how many people do not realize this) Allah is the same God as we Christians worship. Arabs call Him Allah, because that is the word for "God" in their language. Just as Spanish Christians call God "Dios" and French Christians call Him "Dieu", He is the same Supreme Being. We say "God", because "God" is an English word.

The Islamic Allah is the God of the first 4 books of the Old Testament. He is the same God who spoke to Abraham. The Islamics recognize Abraham as an ancestor.

Perhaps I've misunderstood your question. If that is the case, I apologize.

Don't you love how everyone side steps the question? I love your questions. Incredibly good at getting people to think about the flaws in their own religion, but in a respectful way.

To answer your question, I have never felt God's presence. I have always wondered why prayer feels like talking to a wall. I have never felt God inside of a church. In fact, churches creep me out.

I believe that God is wherever people sincerely seek him, even if it be a religion I 'find fault' with.

But I often wonder about who Jesus was referring to when he said this in Matthew 24:5 For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many.

Hello, its really quite simple sir.... there are 2 spiritual powers in the world today, GOD AND satan...GOD is trying to reconcile the human race back to HIMSELF by HIS SON JESUS CHRIST, who incidentally paid the sin debt for the entire world by the sacrifice of HIMSELF. satan on the other hand hates the world and everyone in it...so he uses his most successful weapon, that is deception, and cunningly introduces a host of other so called gods to try and lead as many as he can astray. satan has some power so to many these false gods seem real. When the appointed time comes and its all said and done THE LORD will separate HIS people from the people who rejected HIM and everyone will live forever in their new homes according to what decision they made concerning JESUS CHRIST who is the KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS. Have a nice day...

They are taking beliefs that cator to their lives or what fits them best. Other religions say you have to do something to EARN salvation, this earning makes you feel good about yourself. However, the Bibles message is contrary to that (Eph 2:8,9).

I'm sure they are wrong because they all have these same elements and are more a worship of themselves then of God.

No they are not lying, confuse or wrong for they experience and felt it as according to their God, but they are being lied into believing as according to my Faith. It may seem unfair to you. If you ask them they will also say as according to their Faith. All measure it as according to their own teaching. Who is correct? Which one do you want it to be correct? Don't tell me, it is none of my business, besides I won't be able to accept it or I will be a fool.

The bible says that there is one true living God(God of Abaham Isaac and Jacob father to our lord and savior Jesus Christ) every other so called gods are false. The bible also says that the devil is a deceiver and can transform himself into an angel of light to accomplish his deception they may very well be talking to demons.

There are many false spirits that lie!

I can see that Jesus is more powerful than all
of these other ones - and most loving b/c He
is the actual creator, not the creation!

We can only become new in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Ultimately, it's all one God. It is religion that people quibble over. That is why I choose to put my faith in God rather than religion.
