Hopefully what I have always tried to teach. Tolerance and acceptance of others.

I'm in a new job. A contract, as I'm too old to get permanent work. Even with the changes in the law on ageism here in the UK, I still don't get hired for permanent positions. It sucks but without someone on the inside admitting that they discriminate against oldies, nothing ever gets changed.

Still, in this position, I've been asked to Mentor the younger test people. Been in the job two weeks and two days, and tonight before I left the office, I was told I was doing a brilliant job. Two weeks, and everyone younger than me, has started asking me how to do things, where the procedures are, what certain things mean. I'm still asking questions, but I seem to either have all the answers, where to find the answers, or even who to ask the right questions to.

And today, I was asked by a young Muslim man, what did I think the big problem with religion is. I told him that it was that most religions taught that all other religions were either the work of the devil, or that that specific religion was the natural heir and replacement of previously existing religions. Caused quite a discussion amounst the Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Christian fundies I can tell you. And as it is Ramadan, it wasn't appreciated, but I pointed out that he did ask the question first.

In the end, it was agreed that everyone should be allowed their own beliefs without persecution. Now, I call that a win anyday.
