Why would people wish to follow a version which was translated centuries ago when people had less knowledge about sacred languages when they now do? It's well known that the King James Version, although beautiful, does not come up to modern standards of linguistic fidelity and textual accuracy.
People say that modern translations are heretical; but essentially, it is the original texts they are calling heretical, because the modern translations are closer to the original! :-(

In their hubris, the atheist scum at the Freedom From Religion Foundation have created a bible quiz. They think they know more than the Christians about our sacred scriptures.

This quiz is long, so don't take it now. It will eat up valuable Y!A time. I only give you the link so you can check it out later. If you get a question wrong they provide you with chapter and verse supporting their answer. Christians and Atheists; how much do you think you know about the Bible?

Won't you all test your knowledge of the Bible, or are you afraid to find out how little you know?

we sleep till the resurection, and have also heard we are in heaven or hell emediatly. Jesus told the theif on the cross he would be in paradise with him, yet we are told Jesus spent three days in Hell. did the thief spend three days there also? and if a thousand years is but a day to the Lord then does that mean that Jesus is still in Hell? does anybody understand any of this? The more I think about it the more confused I get.

how circular is that?

later she said that's all she could think of, normally she just goes because it's what she has been doing all her life under roof of parents

I left as soon as I was old enough, and do not believe in a god or other spirit outside of Humanity and each person that exists today, but do see Nature as also alive and worth treating with respect

God, is God ( is that bigotry?)

When Moses left the Jews for 40 days he returned & the Jews were worshiping a cow. Moses told them to correct their mistakes and ask God for forgiveness.

Now that Jesus has left the Christians for 2 millenniums & they have left his teachings (eg pagan celebrations, worshiping others than God, etc) & never had the chance to repent, will more Christians burn in hell?

Would it not be the Devil's most finest invention to twist men away from the Divine by tempting them with salvation through a man, and can it be construed that Jesus' words were not forthright but through translation and interpretation his original sarcasm was lost?

At my conservative Assembly of God, we believe JESUS is in our hearts.

In fact, it has virtually become the DEFINITION of being "born again" in our witnessing!

A good bible studier in my church surprised me by saying said "It is NOT in the Word of God!"

Is that true? I admit, I did not see a plain mention of it...much to my surprise! Does it surprise u 2 ???

Did I miss it? Is it actually in the bible?

Where do you find it in the bible?

If His "love letter", Holy Scriptures doesn't spell out this famous phrase, are we OK going ahead and telling everyone that they "need Jesus" in their hearts, like I've been doing!"???

If some smart alec tells you it is not biblical to say "JESUS is in our hearts" how would you respond? I refuse to just answer "my pastor said so"!

Take a shot at explaining where the saying originated, and why everyone at my church says, "JESUS is in our hearts".

One time, after my first wife died of leukemia, I talked to God every day non-stop for a couple of years. I had many things to say to Him. None of which were very kind, but occasionally spattered with "Why?". I was in a constant state of prayer, and despair. Now, time has eroded the sharp memories I have of her, but the grief and anger will never end because the best friend I ever had was taken from me. I will never make love with her on top of Stone Mountain again, or hear her asking me to stop making her laugh. God, she had a laugh, the angels applauded when they heard her little giggle. Her name was Donna. I used to sing the Ritchie Valens song all day long, to her, and to anyone who would listen. But, God, in his infinite wisdom, chose to remove her from this earth. Sometimes, I feel guilty if I feel good, or see something like a sunrise, or the little geckos on the stone wall out back doing their morning pushups. She should be here to see these things, not me. Question?: why god?

When I have kids, I want them to be open minded about religion. I want to explain them religion, but I don't want them to be trapped by it. If they decide to be religious, then that sucks, but I am not going to be mad at them. I just want them to look at things logically.

why is there a purpose for living just because god exists? if he exists is his purpose that you go to heaven if you do what you are forced to do?? so the purpose of living is just going somewhere else when you no longer lived?
and about purposes if live without a purpose is so difficult to understand: what is the purpose of cockroaches, or mosquitoes or flies? if their purpose is just to be food for another animal then just think of human´s purpose for living to be food for worms.
