One way we know that jesus is in our hearts is that we sin not....
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:7-9
Nowhere in thre Bible does it actually say "Jesus lives in your heart" But throughout the Bible the heart is used to describe a man's inner most thoughts and intents. Wheteher his heart be evil or good it rules his tongue and his actions. To give Jesus your heart is to surrender to him . So we say that all thos ewho have surrendered their hearts to Jesus indeed do have Jesus living in their hearts. For those who have Jesus in their hearts the laws of God are written in the heart by the Holy spirit....
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:3
The Assembly of God Church is a good and spirit filled fellowship. I agree with nearly all their teachings. Listen to the elders of your Churchand the Pastor , and dont worry what others say. The Bible also does not say that the smart alecs who taunt you have a brain, but they nevertheless do have a brain.
You have the proof that Jesus lives in your heart, because you asked this question on YA, showing that you care about Goid's truth. Well done ....
1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

That phrase is definitely not in the Bible. It came from the Roman Catholics spiritualising Revelation 3:20. Jesus is standing at the door of the Church and knocking. Some Churches have become so busy doing things their way instead of following the authority of Christ that he has been, to all intents and purposes, ignored and edged out of His own Church. In John 3:16 Jesus says that "whoever BELIEVES in Him will have everlasting life." Again in John 6:29 Jesus says that all a person has to do to "work the works of God" is to "believe in Him whom He sent." We have to make Him the Lord and Master of our lives - every area of it. He is our God and we are His worshipful creatures.

The terms "heart" and "soul" are used to mean the same thing.
In truth, there is no division in the true Christian, for all of him dies and rises with Christ through baptism, and all are sanctified by his Spirit.
Heb 4:11 Let us hasten therefore to enter into that rest: lest any man fall into the same example of unbelief.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and effectual and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow: and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Hi,
yes I am born again, spirit filled and have received the baptism in the Holy spirit,
I read your answers before I answered as I usually do.
the scriptures are there. so I will not repeat them.
when we accept Jesus he comes into our hearts and quicken our spirit, this is what the holy Spirit does, He is the one that jesus sent, and at that time we have Jesus in our hearts, and the Holy Spirit, there is also the baptism in the Holy Spirit, also called the infilling of the Holy Spirit, and this is a deeper relationship with the Holy spirit.
and on this is where many of the denomination disagree, It is this infilling of the Holy Spirit that brings the gift of the spirit.

The fruits of Sola Scriptura...
"But when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will teach you all the truth. For He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He will hear he will speak, and the things that are to come He will declare to you." John 16:13
Most non-Catholic sects declare that the Holy Spirit is 'teaching' them the truth. However, there can be only one truth. Since the advent of Sola Scriptura and individual interpretation of Scripture, how can the Holy Spirit be in each of the thousands of sects, teaching all of them opposing viewpoints? It is to be noted that all of the following denominations teach from the same Bible, so why the differences in teaching?
1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans the Eucharist is the true presence of Christ, and then tell the Baptists it is only a symbol?
2. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Methodists it is alright to have female ministers, and then tell the Baptists it is unbiblical?
3. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Seventh Day Adventists that Saturday is the day of worship, and then tell the Presbyterians the day of worship is Sunday and not Saturday?
4. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans that the Blessed Virgin Mary was and remains always virgin, and then tell the Baptists she had other children?
5. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Baptists, 'once saved always saved', and then tell the Church of Christ that Sola Fides is unscriptural?
6. How can the Holy Spirit tell Episcopalians to baptize infants and then tell Pentecostals infant baptism is invalid?
7. How can the Holy Spirit tell Mormons that the Holy Trinity is three separate persons, and then tell Methodists the Trinity is three persons in one GOD?
I could go on and on with the differences between non-Catholic sects, but I think you get the point. It takes only a minimum of common sense to realize that the Holy Spirit could not be speaking to each and everyone of those thousands of non-Catholic sects in the opposing ways of which I have sampled here. However, I was recently reminded that common sense is not so common anymore. It is easy to see that the 'fruits of Sola Scriptura' are not from GOD. There is no 'one fold and one shepherd' in Protestantism. Opposing teachings in these denominations is rampant, all caused by the false doctrine of Sola Scriptura and its accompanying 'individual interpretation' of Holy Scripture. Which, if any, of these sects is being taught all of the truth, as promised by Jesus Christ in John 16:13?
"And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom GOD has given to all who obey Him." Acts 5:32
Okay, GOD Himself has thrown down the gauntlet...TO ALL WHO OBEY HIM.
So who obeys the will of GOD? Is it the Lutherans who say the Holy Eucharist is the 'True Presence' of Jesus Christ incarnate, or is it the Baptists who say, 'It is only a symbol'?
Is it those who say we have to worship on Saturday or is it those who say worship on Sunday?
Is it those who say baptize infants or those who say not to?

Look at the scripture below. If any one would tells you it is not true, tell them you believe what God says, not what man says. Yes, even your Pastor. if a Pastor is teaching against what the Bible, God's word, teaches, he is in the wrong. ALWAYS check in the bible to verify what ANY MAN (women) tells you!!!! Even Pastors/Priests, etc.
Here is a good site as well that you can learn from with questions, BUT, go back and check if it is true in your BIBLE.
Feel free to email me with any questions. God Bless!
"If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, THOU SHALT BE SAVED." (Romans 10:9)
"Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God." (1 John 4:15)
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things have passed away; behold, all things become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his ONLY BEGOTTEN Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

If you examine "Jesus is in our hearts," you'll find that it only means you've accepted Christ and He now lives inside you. It says in the bible "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst." Timothy 1:15
You are saved by Jesus once you accept him.
"Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well." John 14:5-7

First -- asking Jesus' into your coronary heart is unbiblical. even nonetheless i'm Catholic i recognize that Lutherans, Episcopalians, Methodists do no longer purchase this the two 2d....Protestants brislte with the concept-approximately "works" as mandatory for salvation.....asking Jesus into your coronary heart is a "paintings"..... 0.33....a Mentally handicapped/challenged guy or woman could have the skill to have some quantity of information. yet in Catholicism we permit God take the initiative and cofide such persons to God's limitless know-how and mercy.....

while that "truly good Bible studier may good at a lot of things , he's incorrect about this".
The Word, clearly states in several passages about soul-wnning.
Matthew: it was the last thing Christ told his disciples to do:"Go," "teach all nations,,baptizing then in the name of the father, son & the holy spirit., Teaching them to observe all thngs i have commanded you.......", Matthew 28
the disciples were sent out 2 by 2, to go to tell others. There are several acouts of this calling.
the last thing he says inthe book of Revalation is "come" ...it is also says"he that winneth souls is wise'', & they that win souls shall shine" ............ it is our main burden to do so.
sure , we're not ever going to be perfect, but God blesses his word & "his word will not return void"., "but will accomplish that which it is set out to do."
& about what to say when someone asks how to tell if Jesus is in your heart or not.:
i know he is real , He speaks w/me thru his word, his songs, & thru others, he's real , cause i feel his leadership & the fellowship of his spirit in my heart. he's real cause when i do somethng against his will, i am convicted of it. there are so many ways to tell he is real.
i did not know how real he was , or how lost i was til , i met the Lord, for i was in a "Works Religion", not anymore, i am in a Jesus religion, go to a Baptist church, & trust in Christ & no one or thing or no works," for all our righteosness is as filthy rags". (which is referred to as grave-cloths ewww)~!
there's people in every church ya cant exactly 'click' with, but there's many more that ya can. & we aint goin to please others, & check out every word by our Bible ourselves, not believing "man" on anything , like i use to. man, will fail ya , bu t Jesus is faithful, &he'll never let ya down. & he's open 24/7 & the line is always open ! praise the Lord !
Good to hear from you Micheal , God Bless, & don't worry bout those chums , study fo r yourself. The word will lead .
