What would you think about atheists and atheism if you were told (at the age of 8) that a Flying Spaghetti Monster would wrap it's appendage around your neck and tear it clean off if you believed in religion?

Father Phan, a native of Vietnam, is a former president of the Catholic Theological Society of America. In an essay that touches on some themes of his book, he writes, “A pluralistic theology serves as a strong reminder to Christians that non-Christian religious traditions may and indeed do contain teachings and practices that will help Christians know and love God.”

Romans 1:18-20 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society

18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

The Bible says that the creation reveals the truth of God's existence and power to everyone.

Has God revealed Himself to you through the wonders of His creation? If not, then the above Scripture is NOT true.

(according to you)
We are absolutely, positively wrong.

(according to us)
We are indoctrinated as children, brainwashed in our youth, inundated with Christianity throughout our lives, told we are going to Hell for not believing in Jesus, asked to say "under God" every single day in school, and much more...

1. Are you absolutely certain there is a God and Jesus is your savior?
2. Is there anything that could change your beliefs that I or any other person could demonstrate to you?

Let's agree that the expression "design" is applicable to some objects. Why does it matter that some human beings or advanced life forms have created the object? In your answer, consider that our thoughts are controlled by the laws of nature. Is it just an arbitrary convention? If the creators are viruses, can we say there is a design? If they are complex molecules?

Also, why the creator(s) must be separated from the created object? What about a structured army of ants? I personally don't mind using the term design for the entire universe, especially since we are a part of it.

Please, don't refer to chaos theory or to the notion of emergence, etc. without answering the question "Where do you draw the line?" If it is just an arbitrary convention that some separated advanced life form must have created the object, then just say it. Unless of course, you are just against any use of the term "design", even when human beings are the creators. I just want to know.

Street dog for a dad
An evil spirit gave birth to me
Now wherever I go people say
Look here comes the ugly Karunanidhi

Accursed of God
I steal my time on earth
But one day when its time to die
I will know my real worth

For those like me
Who abuse the sacred Vedic Dharma
Build up a huge storehouse
Jam-packed with evil Karma

My message to all you folks
Don’t follow the way of my ugly deeds
For sooner or later it will catch up with you
And you’ll be born, live and die as ugly as me.

Research shows more and more that we are not that different from our primate cousins. Read the article on BBC "Monkey's show sense of justice"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/low/science/nature/3116678.stm

If monkeys have a sense of justice, religion might not be the primary reason that humans have our 'sense of justice'.

If monkeys aren't that different from us, do you think most of them might believe in Gods like most humans do!?

Why is the word "repent" thought of as being sorry? Would Jesus have wasted his time asking people to be sorry? He was after a BIG transormation ("Be Perfect"..Sermon on the Mount), so the repent he was talking about had to TRANSFORM a person.

So why is the word "repent" thought of as being sorry? No use crying over spilt milk... being sorry doesn't transform a person.

What do you think of pleasures of the flesh, like a man sexually admiring a woman as she walks bye on the street?

Which is worst, that, or a priest or believer telling us all that it's a "sin" and we will forfeit heaven for engaging in it.

Do any of you really think that something bad will happen, like a plague or a terrorist attack, if we like to watch Shakira shake her booty on MTV? I don't mean an attack just because an aggressive puritan is so annoyed, but an actual supernatural repercussion for sinful ways, like we heard of in the bible and koran, or even in the Buddhist and Hindu scriptures.

Personally I believe that our sexuality is natural and not evil in any way. It is one of the things that we can enjoy in life, and we ought to do so without a superstitious fear of adverse consequences.

I mean, really...like I'm going to be struck by lightning or something like that.

I would welcome and theories about WHY the flesh was originally seen as sinful and dangerous,

I used to get mixed answers. I'm confused as F^ck. So I'm asking all the Christian people, and I'm asking people who knows the answer from the bible or something. I'm not a Christian, but I'm open minded and curious on the whole situation.

Also wanted to ask..was Satan really God's brother? and if so did God send Satan to Hell because he was a liar or something? if so...then isn't God evil? who sends their own family remember and own flesh and blood to hell because of lies or mistakes?

Yea I know so many questions. I learned partially a little bit about the Christian faith when I was in high school, and it was all confusing because it wasn't thoroughly explained. That's why I'm seeking answers from REAL Christians, not half a$$ed bogus History books or teachers who don't practice the faith.

Thanks
