Yes, plain and simple.
They do not know their own church history, the origin of holidays they celebrate and don't want to know when told.

I challenge every solid Believer to study church history without a pre conceived idea before you start.
It will cause you to look at Gods Word in a whole different light.
This next statement will infuriate some. The reality is, Martin Luther took the church away from much, but not all idolatry.
The affects of Constantine still linger in our services across the globe.

I believe if every Pastor studied church history, the body of Christ would not be so divided on certain issues.

I think that lukewarm would be a more accurate description.

2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

This is about where we are at today. This is a prophecy fulfilled. The reason they were to turn away from such people is so that the church doesn't become in the condition that it's in today.

I think so. Most churches are more concerned about worshipping in the way and manner they feel is appropriate. In other words, their dogma becomes the idol to be worshipped, instead of Christ. Sometimes it's more important to support the building, utilities, salaries, etc. than to do God's work. Some churches even put intermediaries in between the believer and Christ. The most tragic thing I see is that some churches have even turned homophobia into idolatry, such as the Westboro Baptist Church.

Idolatry is a matter of the heart.

There are worshippers of the true and living God everywhere - They can be found within just about every "church system"

god bless

It is interesting how, people often avoid thinking about/answering a question by quickly throwing a stone. To answer the question, very often, for many people church becomes an idol. Their live revolves around/focuses on the church/denomination instead of on God. This can be true of just about anything, prayer, the bible, especially our own ideas, anything in which distracts our focus away from God is an idol.

This is not aimed at you personally but how sanctimonious those who spout their concepts of idolatry on here, do they realize that there is but one creation,one family of God going right back to Adam and Eve? do they even stop to think that all those who they are descended from are still real entities in the supernatural life? the fact that before the reformation occured all where Catholics and honored Mary and the Saints as we still do today, but the fact that these sanctimonious ones are now saved has to mean that all their ancestors are in Hell, take the plank out your eye and stop judging least you be judged.

Anything that involves statues is idolatry.
(Exodus 20:4-5) “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. 5 You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion, bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation, in the case of those who hate me;

If any church has any statues that depict ANYTHING...[and that includes Jesus and Mary and so called saints] they are disobeying this scripture.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

A man of God is competent if he knows and obeys ALL the scriptures.

Of course.

You follow a set of rules: do's and don'ts.... to the extent that there are people who scrutinize it and dissect it to mean 'this' or 'that'.

Eventually, they're left with 'worshipping' their 'To-Do' list and not basking in the glory of the most holy.

no,
the church has become institutionalized and is a bodied politic. It cannot adhere to genuine and original truths...or lest it whither from atrophy and disuse.

Yes, they think they worship God, but what they really worship is the bible and what it says about God. They wouldn't recognize God if they saw him, because he would have unbiblical characteristics.
