For me, in a Biblical sense, it is the sign of the cirucmcision of my heart-the dwelling of YHWH, Yeshua-G-D/Jesus-
I believe the Tri-unity (not a 3-split trinity but 3 forms of the same Identity-as it says in Genesis, where HaShem says "Let us make Man in Our image.") that first He appeared OUTSIDE of us, where as HaShem, He spoke to us, presented the Laws to Moses, the covenants to Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon and spoke to the prophets.
As Jesus/Yeshua, He walked BESIDE us, clarifying the laws, showing us how to move our life from the flesh to the spirit, to living a life that would be filled with more love, compassion, kindness, devotion of faith, et al than man had shown before.
The Holy Spirit is the part that takes what we learned from He who is OUTSIDE of us, and from He who walked BESIDE us and have it dwell INSIDE of us--so we can be measured by how pure we are, how each of us tries to live our lives. The forgiveness of sin upon the cross comes with our devotion to that which He who cleansed us of our sin by taking the greatest sacrifice taught us.
There is nothing in our lives that we have not learned the same way--from something or someone outside of us, then bringing that information beside us through another's words, or visible experience, or evidence that hits one of our senses, and then we take that information inside of us--whether it is a matter of fatih or a matter of seeing on the blackboard that 1+1=2.
For those who do not have a faith in the way I do, the Holy Spirit can be akin to the conscience, the superego, the drive to live a more righteous way and sense of guilt that comes when we know we have not done what we believe to be right.
I believe, because of my faith, this is divine inspiration, a holy intervention--others who are not of faith may recognize it as self-actualizing and self-regulating factors...but to deny it exists in any form is to deny that we are separate from the other species of the animal kingdom because this is what allows the homo sapien to choose, to know, to learn and not merely by instinct.
For me, it is how to measure my heart and assess if it has been circumcised. It is how well I have taken by wisdom the words I have read in the Bible and applied it to my life...I believe it came from G-D, t others may feel it is of different origin, but to call it "nonsense" as some have, I think, is simply to not recognize the power of the
conscience, whatever source one believes is the origin.

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. He is fully God. He is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, has a will, and can speak. He is alive. He is a person. He is not particularly visible in the Bible because His ministry is to bear witness of Jesus (John 15:26).
Some cults like the Jehovah's Witnesses say that the Holy Spirit is nothing more than a force (Reasoning from the Scriptures, 1985, pp. 406-407). This is false. If the Holy Spirit were merely a force, then He could not speak (Acts 13:2); He could not be grieved (Eph. 4:30); and He would not have a will (1 Cor. 12:11).

The love of the Father for the Son and that of the Son for the Father is so infinitely powerful and dynamic, that this love is also God the Holy Spirit, and since the Father and Son have no beginning and no end so too the Holy Spirit always was and always will be.

The Holy Spirit is the Lord and Giver of Life. He is the third Person of the Trinity. See the alive person? The Holy Spirit dwells within. See the dead person? The Holy Spirit has departed. He is also the inner voice that whispers to you to do what's right, and makes you feel guilty when you do wrong.

According to the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit, sent by God, is the divine principle of activity in the world. For Christians the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity, which is three aspects of God, consisting of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Able to bestow gifts on individuals, especially the gift of prophecy, the Holy Spirit aided in the conception of Jesus (Matt. 1:18-20); descended to Jesus at his baptism

HOLY SPIRIT (Gr. pneuma hagion; in KJV of NT, Holy Ghost). The third person of the triune Godhead (Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14).
Another is:
Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost [ghost, i.e., spirit, a translation of Gr. pneuma=breath, air], in Christian doctrine, the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is sometimes defined as the aspect of God immanent in this world, in human beings, and in the church. Jesus' promise to his disciples of a Comforter (or Paraclete, i.e., advocate), in John 14, is considered his principal reference to the Holy Spirit, and the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles and the communication of the gift of tongues, as recounted in Acts 2, is thought to be an example of the work of the Holy Spirit in time. This incident is commemorated on Pentecost (Whitsunday). Certain Christian groups, such as the Montanists and the Society of Friends, have attributed utterances of their members to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. For the controversy over the procession of the Holy Spirit, see creed.

There are three unique individuals in GOD. God the Father, who no one has seen. Jesus as the Son of God, who bodily came to earth and walked among us, and the Holy Spirit who is the Comforter, sent to us when Jesus ascended from this earth to go to the Father. John 14:10 - 21. The Holy Spirit indwells in every believer Romans chapter 8. The Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf and the Son intercedes on our behalf to the Father.

The Holy Spirit could best be described as Divine Inspiration. It is the voice that speaks to the prophets and inspires the writers of the Bible and the Koran and Torah. It is the voice and will of God that is a sending yet independent.

I'm certain that you'll get answer after answer to tell you the precise doctrine and all the Bible scriptures verses that might support the idea of what the Holey spirit is, but I doubt you'll get the real deal from anyone who offers that kind of malarkey so here's the straight poop on the Holey Spirit....
It's a fake just like all the other ideas of God and Jesus and whatnot.... The magical mystical "Holey Spirit" isn't anything at all. That is: it isn't anything real. It's just a part of the entire nonsense of god-belief. You can think of it as fairy dust if you like, because knowing anymore about the details of the Holey Spirit by this time next week or 50 years from now won't make a hoots worth of difference in your life.
Nonsense is nonsense and and that's the bottom line.
