So I want to understand why religious people bring children into this world and put blind folds on their eyes. It's like they are trying to work AROUND human nature, around society. It's like taking the easiest professors in college, getting a 4.00 GPA and then calling yourself a genius. These parents seclude their kids and hide them from everything to get this "morality." I think they should go THROUGH the system instead of working around it. Show the kids that there is promiscuity, there are drugs, there is evil in this world - but that it isn't appealing. That is the ultimate thing to do, and I don't understand why people who dislike the reality of society bring kids into this world. You don't like it - don't bring more to it. Fair enough?

There is the saying "Live and let live." I have no beef with religious people, but some of them can have effect on us. They tend to harbor very radical views that can sometimes be detrimental. So, it kind of is everyone's business too.

My elderly, dying father is an atheist. I am not the most religious person...however, do I "agree" with him to keep peace or stand my God ground? It's not that I "agree" with his views, I just nod (with teeth gritted) when he calls Christians kooks, etc...I do believe everyone has their right of opinion and beliefs...as he does not.

I have been challenging the Bible and jesus for 50 years. I have yet to do anything but prosper. I am not the slightest bit worried about demons and devils. The threats that Jesus made were idle and designed to intimidate. Julius Caeser decided he wanted to rule the world forever. Good luck Julie. You and your son Jesus forgot to count on me. I am replacing you with deities people can trust. You have made yourselves into liars. My concept of world peace through a universal religion that predates all others will be acceptable to all mankind. I have conceived and created a means to receive clemency and regain eternal life. if there is anyone who objects to my righteous cause then all I can say is bye-bye.
I seriously suggest that all people take a closer look at the man they call god.

I am having alot of trouble trusting my intuition, and that's a major problem for me.
I get alot of gut feelings and hunches but I never really know how to make sense of them or trust them. Sometimes, I get conflicting gut signals, and recognise perhaps i am making excuses for the feelings i first had. However, am not sure if it is right.

How do i begin to trust my intuition? In this world where hard evidence is favoured and intuition is not?

I find it curious to see the objections which some non-Catholic Christians have to the Catholic devotion to the saints. For this, too, seems an organic continuation of Judaism, well supported by the Jewish scriptures as well as tradition. If Catholic devotion to the saints truly constituted a veiled form of idolatry, as is sometimes mistakenly suggested, than it should be more offensive to Biblical Judaism than to any other religious system, since it was the Jews who were given the honor of introducing to all of mankind the worship of the one true God, to the exclusion of all other gods or "idols", for the very first time in history. The rejection of idolatry is at the very heart of God's revelation to the Jews. There are over one hundred vehement prohibitions against idolatry in the Jewish scriptures, including, of course, the very first of the Ten Commandments: "I am the LORD your God;You shall have no other gods before me;" (Exodus 20:2-3).

If anyone should object to the veneration of the saints as a form of idolatry, it is the Jews. Yet profound veneration for saints permeates the very same scriptures in which one finds the prohibitions against idolatry. God even identifies Himself in reference to the greatest of the Jewish saints, the three Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (later renamed Israel). When asked by Moses who He is, He replies: "I am;the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." (Exodus 3:6).

Abraham is considered the first and greatest of the Jewish saints, rightly held by the Jews in the highest veneration, because all of the blessings which God promised for all eternity for the Jews came to the Jews solely because they were the offspring of Abraham.

The same principles can be applied in understanding the Catholic veneration of the Saints.

As the Jews owe Abraham veneration as the source of all of their blessings, certainly no less do all Christians owe Mary veneration as the source of all of theirs. For as it was Abraham's pleasingness to God which brought about the Jewish blessing, so it was Mary's pleasingness to God which enabled the greatest blessing known to mankind -- the birth of God as Man, Jesus -- to come about.
Mere common decency would demand that the Jews venerate Abraham, and the Christians Mary, if only out of gratitude for the blessings which they enjoy as a result of these saints' virtue.

In prayer, it is typical for Jews to refer to God as the "God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel".
The Catholic who embellishes his prayers to Jesus with references to Mary thus is doing the same thing as the Jew who makes repeated reference to Abraham -- reminding God of His special love for the named person, and laying claim to some of that love as his/her descendant. And since Abraham is the father of the Jews, and Mary the adoptive mother of every disciple of Jesus, the respect shown to them is no more than the fulfillment of the fourth commandment "Honor your father and your mother." (Exodus 20:12)

Another aspect of Catholic devotion to the saints which sometimes draws criticism is the typical attention Catholics pay to the bodies of "dead" saints. Yet this form of devotion is also familiar to Jews and to the Jewish scriptures. The burial site of the three Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has been venerated continually by Jews since their deaths about four thousand years ago. As Catholics make pilgrimages to the tombs of "dead" saints (sometimes enclosed in churches) to pray, so do Jews, both in Biblical times and still today.

Now, down to business. You say whenever someone dies, that it is part of god's perfect and unchanging plan. Yet, you pray every night for things such as; a raise, health for your family, for the end of the war soon, and so on. Yet, if you not getting a raise is part of god's mysterious plan, why ask for one if no matter what you do, he won't give it to you?

OK so i am really interested to findout what the 7 archangels are called and what they 'do' in a sense as i am told Gabriel is the messenger of God and Michael is the Warrior... i'm not sure if i have all 7 names correct for the Christian side of the angels theory...

My nephew is now 16, and his mother faitfully took him to church ever since he was a newborn, Then one sunday, He got up in the morning, and told his mother , Nooo, I am not going to church, anymore, she got soo upset, and he told her, because she pushed him too much, now that he is 16, He does not want to go church anymore, plain and simple, He told her maybe someday, or on my own terms i will go back to church, but , give me a break, please, my sister was soo sadden, she wouldnt talk to him in days, I dont see anything wrong with it, the kid has a right, whoo wants to be 16, and have his mommy take him to church every sunday,? Or am I wrong? please answer this question?,

Are Atheists aware that an expedition in the 1990's to the Mountains of Ararat found Noah's Ark? I'd suggest that Atheists (lovers of truth, their current "truth" being: There is no God) research this for themselves. After they've done this and other requisite research, maybe it will dispel their fairytale/strawman assertions that there is no God.

I'm curious.
When witnessing the gospel of Christ, SOME (notice I said SOME) people find it necessary to rather forcefully preach hellfire and condemnation (ie judgement). This is especially prevelent on this forum. Why is this?
Jesus asks us to spread the gospel of peace and salvation.... not the gospel of hellfire and damnation. Don't you agree?
