Why not? Half the world is older than you... I am older than you and I fit right in (in the real world).

Why would you want to blend into society anyway? It's great to be an eccentric. You are a unique person and deserve only the best, so believe that. Build up your self esteem by reading some self-help books, join some on-line chat rooms for people in your age group, get out and about and visit retirement homes, people in hospital, etc. Perhaps enrol for some community projects and work.
Have you considered that you may be suffering from depression? Visit your local doctor and ask him if you are.
All the best to you, trusting you will make many friends.
Oh and don't forget - join a lively and loving church such as a Vineyard.

Why would you want to blend in with todays society? It is pretty scary out there!! As long as you have close family and a few really good friends who cares about society? And if you don't have that then the first thing you need to do is start joining groups/clubs etc that you are passionate about. You will find people to fit in with.

Good for you! Dare to be different!
There are too many people who have "tons of friends," and who go out all the time and go to parties and have a good ol' time. But what do you think will happen to all those friends when they lose everything they have? Do you think those friends will still be there?
If you can earn a living and if you have ONE person you can truly call friend, even if it is a sibling, then you are incredibly blessed. Do not worry about blending in. Most of society is totally screwed up anyway.
Just be yourself.
And take a Tai-Chi class. Harmonize with yourself, with your own energy. The rest just falls in place.

im not 43 yet but I really have no desire to blend into society. I prefer being true to myself. I don't care about conforming to what others think I should be

lol Oh, little Chung. 43 is young, not old. Old is when you can't get around on your own anymore. Kids! Yeesh. Don't try to blend in. Stand up tall and proud and be your own person. Become the one that others try to follow. To accomplish this, to thine own self be true. Never purer words have ever been spoken. And, don't forget to have fun. You have a lifetime ahead of you.
