Put your feet in my shoes for a minute...?

What would you think about atheists and atheism if you were told (at the age of 8) that a Flying Spaghetti Monster would wrap it's appendage around your neck and tear it clean off if you believed in religion?

Oh, come now. Nobody really said that to you when you were a kid, did they? Or if so, they made it clear they were kidding, didn't they? I've always understood the FSM to be openly a mockery not to be taken seriously. Heck, I even bought the tee shirt, the one adapted from the Sistine Chapel.

At 8? I'd probably play with my spaghetti and make images of the FSM and have it tear the head off of my Barbie (poor thing, I was so mean to Barbie growing up). Or use it to threaten my younger sister But my parents didn't teach religion, of any kind, when I was growing up so it wouldn't have been an issue to begin with. So I would most likely view atheism the same as I do today - they have good points, but sometimes certain atheists use them to the same level of extremism that the religious nuts do. Those that don't do this I view as reasonable people whom I can listen to, and maybe learn something from... but it in no way changes my beliefs now.

I wouldn't believe it.
You're born with a free mind and you don't have to be any particular religion to know that truth.
My friend believes in the flying spaghetti monster.
My best friend.
But I still don't believe it.

I've been Atheist before, but I went back to Christianity. I think what I used to, just with a different and better perspective.

But the FSM is all about belly filling noodley goodness... it's only fundies that twist things into threats. So sad.

Tell that person who told you this ignorance, that there is a God who created everything, and if you believe in Him, He is more than able to give protection and provision to you. Any other religion or god or goddess other than Him are false and there is not truth in them. He holds your breath in His hands. He gives life to whomever He wants. It is His world and shortly He will return to set up His kingdom on this earth. Repent, get your heart right, because your Creator lives.
