When a church stops walking in the light God has given to them, He will cease to give more light. Many denominations that were alive in the Spirit have become apostate because they love traditions of man more than they love the word of God. If you are never offended in church you either erroneously think you are perfect or you are getting a "feelgood" message from a leader who wants to tickle the ear of man. If you feel battered in your church, they may be preaching truth, but they are not teaching Grace.
Edit: Eight Track, how could I not know it? I love you, too. I miss the emails. I am a fool for your Popsicle Toes, and your poets heart.

'...correct preaching and teaching' Is language that scares me Ramjet. It is the disagreements about whose interpretation is correct that has led to bloodshed and hatred. I struggle - I mean STRUGGLE with the amount of animosity that has been brought into the world in the name of God. It makes me want to walk away and take no part in it. In the religion I practice (Episcopal) I have a deep appreciation that the grace of God has been extended to those who feel called - regardless of gender or sexuality. In the small congregation which I attend we have a priest who is openly gay. This is not an issue for me, but it is for some. This brings an undercurrent to the community - which is not always acknowledged, and sometimes when it is acknowledged it is in a way that hurts.

One response that I could give to your question is that I think that any community that struggles with the questions of "How are we human" is remaining faithful. Peace and Love.

Yes, Semper Fi, the church fails, or rather the religion fails, because the people failed the religion. It actually happened when the Episcopalians opened their doors to openly gay priests.

Religion is about dogma, tradition. When you break from that tradition, you break everything about the religion. And while different sects could develop from this break, you will have weakened the religion as a whole. This is why it is important to always bear in mind that spirituality really is between an individual and their sense of Source -- not about their religion.

to respond to your unique question, study Revelation. There are 7 letters to 7 church homes, that supplies a sprint to us that God will initiate judgement interior the church. Why no longer shop on with the Bible and carry forth the gospel as Jesus did. this is defined in 1Corinthians 15:3-4. Jesus suggested to evangelise the gospel, no longer God's judgment, holiness and righteousness.

It already has. The bible says in the last days men shall be ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (II Timothy 4:7). Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away (II Timothy 4:5). The church today has a form of godliness, but denies the power of the blood of Christ; they are always in bible study, yet still believe Christ is God which the bible doesn't teach.

Depends on what the deviation is. A church which doesn't encourage discipleship and is only a 'feel good' gospel for example will produce carnal Christians. Christians who remain wedded to all the junk from their pre-Christian lives, which often makes them more susceptible to sliding back into those lives, and leaving the Church behind.

What happens is you get the Spanish Inquistion and humans being burned alive at the local Barbecue. that's exactly what happend during the Protestant reformation where CHRISTIANS were burned as Witches by BOTH sides of the argument in order to prove WHO was adhering more closely to the "Word of God".

1. It has already happened a few times over within the USA presently. The result; a division in Christianity.

Ramjet,
It becomes a Denominational Church and no longer follows the TRUTH. There is no reason for ANY Group of Christians to be unable to read, study, and obey GOD'S WORD as it is written as long as one is diligent in his/her study. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,

What happens?

I'm going with, nothing, aside from whatever those changes are. For example, if the church drifts away from the Bible and starts wearing socks with sandals (which the Bible does *not* endorse), then people make fun of Christians because, like, why don't they just wear shoes?
