And does the clear link between the church and the state concern you, and why..?

Please list your concerns so that creationists and christian fundies may see the error of their ways, or not..
Thanks.

Fundies, save us the fictional and self serving spiel about America being founded on christianity, [it simply wasn't, it was tollerated], and blatantly insults ALL other denominations anyway.

Just today I started a new job with Americorps as a reading volunteer in a local school. Tomorrow I am in charge of bringing in an inspring quote. What are your suggestions?

The best I have of my own seems kinda silly since it's from Albus Dumbledore "It is our choices, Harry, far more than our ability that make us who we are."

What do you have?

Follow up questions, Are people dieing for this country out of ignorance?
Are the educated and intellectuals willing to die for there country, or are a majority of the people willing to die for a cause, simply sheep in most cases, while the thinkers think and plan?

P.S. education VS understanding and logical reason are not the same. Plenty of well conditioned people hold degrees, however this dose not necessarily mean that they can think for themselves. We are generally a product of our environment.

I'm being friendly. Here, have a cookie. Have a soft pillow. You cozy? Good!

Now, about myth...how can you really define myth? The ancient greeks didn't think Zeus was a "myth" however it's clear to us that he was. So...how do we define myth and how do we know that we aren't believing in one?

Myth is...? What? Fill in the blank. A talking snake? Flaming swords in gardens? A righteous god smiting the earth with vengence?

In short, how do you know that what YOU believe in isn't a myth but what "everybody else believes in" is? How do you know the difference?

Thanks!

Some people read the Bible and take the lessons and precepts in a very literal sense.

Others read the Bible and read into the symbolisms and report a greater spiritual enlightenment.

How do you read/study the Bible?

I believe that God does plenty to prove that He exists- He shows me His love and mercy every day- however I am just curious, and please do not think I am judging you, I am just interested in hearing from those who don't believe. What would it take for you to believe?

At times I feel like giving up, don't know which path is right. Is there a god or is there not? Both sides show great arguments but in the end the choice is up to me. Deep inside me I always believe in a god but what if all we are is just an accident that were created from evolution and when we die we just vanish into the air and just be forgotten. Life seems so simple yet at times so complicated.

The Bible was writing by Man not God. The only thing God wrote was the Ten Commandments. And even that might have be Aliens working on Gods behalf.

Prophet muhomad saab have 22 wives i read this on http://www.bible.ca/islam/islam-myths-muhammad-sinless-4-wives.htm
What is this can you please explain it ???

1. The Quran condemns more than 4 wives in Q4:3.
2. Muhammad was sinless.
3. Therefore Muhammad did not have more than four wives, (Because Muhammad was sinless.)

However, the facts of history cannot be changed. Informed Muslims like Muslim scholar and statesman Ali Dashti gives the following list of the women in Muhammad's life:
Muhammad’s 22 Women:
==Muhammad’s 16 Wives:==
1. Khadija
2. Sawda
3. Aesha
4. Omm Salama
5. Halsa
6. Zaynab (of Jahsh)
7. Jowayriyi
8. Omm Habiba
9. Safiya
10. Maymuna (of Hareth)
11. Fatema
12. Hend
13. Asma (of Saba)
14. Zaynab (of Khozayma)
15. Habla
16. Asma (of Noman)

==Muhammad’s 2 concubines/slaves:==
1. Mary (the Christian)
2. Rayhana

Muhammad’s 4 devoted followers who who "gave" themselves to satisfy Muhammad's sexual desires.

1. Omm Sharik
2. Maymuna
3. Zaynab (a third one)
4. Khawla

How could he be in two places at once?

2007-09-04 19:03:50 · 34 answers · asked by Anonymous

If there is a God, why would it HAVE to be all powerful? (be able to see into the future, know what a person is thinking, etc.)

We are so used to this supposition that many people take that if there is some sort of God, that God must automatically be omnipotent.

Why would it HAVE to have a personality? Why would it automatically have to care about anything and like some stuff but not like other things?

Do you think there could be the possibility that there could be some sort of a God (not the God of the Bible or ANY religion on earth) that created the universe, but did it in a mechanical sort of way?

This God would not necessarily even think.

Humans in this scenario would not even be part of its plan. They would just happen to be creatures that evolved through natural selection.

This God would not answer prayers and there would be no afterlife and no souls.

What I have just described is practically atheism.
