After taking college history courses, I don't believe its accurate. I do believe there is a god, but I do not believe that he said everything that was in the bible. Jerome wrote one of the versions of the bible. It is believed that he did not think much of women. People and historians actually believe that he left books out of the bible that contained information about women apostles and figures. I guess this all depends on how strong someones belief is. Somebody had to actually write the bible...it is kind of hard to believe that a human did not make any mistakes during the writing and research process. On top of everything else, there are many other bible all around the world with different gods and beliefs, just because our God had forced popularity does not mean that he is the only god.

Have you actually sat down and really *read* the Bible?

Most of the prophecies made in the Bible have either already come true, or are in the process of being fulfilled right now as we speak.

The Bible (New Testament - John 10:16) records Jesus as saying "I have other sheep who are not of this fold, who I must see, and bring together so all are one with Me." Who knows - He may have been talking about a race of people from another world who are His children also.

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and was written down by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:20-21)

Lone:
1. the Bible claims to be the inspired word of God, working through people.
2. it proves it's claim through thousands of verifiable prophesies which have been fulfilled.
3. we live in a day where prophecy is fulfilled at a rate unlike any time since Christ - which it specifically said would be a time where people would depart the faith at an unprecedented rate.
4. the Bible's recipes work. If you do what it says, life works the way it should. I haven't seen anthing else that can say that yet.
5. God has revealed and spoken to me, giving me assurances of my faith, in many ways, at many times.

There'd have to be a lot of very bored aliens working some wild kind of magic to do all that.

I like to think of the Bible as being inspired by God, written by man and edited by man.

With this in mind I also believe much of the Bible needs to be interpreted (often symbolically) to coincide with our modern world. Perhaps the violence of some fundamentalist religious extremists (all religions) is a result of literal interpretations of material from thousands of years ago.

Peace,

AAD

2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Deu 9:10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

It was written by man through God. He would not let his Word be corupted in any way. And yes I believe it to be true.

I like the part about Jesus Christ dying for my sins and for the sins of the WHOLE world(everyone). "no sin will enter heaven". I don't worry too much about the rest, especially the old testament(before Christ all was law).
