And does the clear link between the church and the state concern you, and why..?

Please list your concerns so that creationists and christian fundies may see the error of their ways, or not..
Thanks.

Fundies, save us the fictional and self serving spiel about America being founded on christianity, [it simply wasn't, it was tollerated], and blatantly insults ALL other denominations anyway.

Greetings!

Fundamentalists have this bumper sticker that really explains it all. It goes "Know Jesus, no Peace. No Jesus, No Peace".

I interpret that as the fundies will not allow any peace in the world until everyone conforms the their ideologies.

If the fundamentalists left their ideologies in their church and home, there wouldn't be a problem. But no, they take it out into the streets and infiltrate our politcal systems (namely the Republicans), who scream law and order and villify those who don't believe and give tax breaks to those who do.

The fundamentalists also create scapegoats to beat down so they can lift themselves higher (gay people and those who have left the Christian church). BTW, I encourage those of you to look in the bible and see how important it was to Jesus to express sermons, lessons and ideologies DIRECTLY against gays -(Just a hint...Jesus didn't)

They have taken a text that has been unchecked for 1500 years and use it as if it could not be wrong or misconstrued.

The fundamentalists are also the first congregation to send their "Christian Soldiers" off to War....and are deeply excited about it. Am I wrong? Then why is it that fundamentalist churches are pretty much the ONLY churches who think this Iraq war was a great idea and that W can't do wrong?

I'm all in favor of freedom of and from religion. Don't make me Kow-Tow to your dogma (again), and you in turn let me read or listen to what I want freely.

Take care.

The Fundamentalists can believe whatever they like. I don't have a problem with that. But I'm tired of people thinking that just because I'm a Christian, I'm also a Fundamentalist. Sometimes, it seems as if ultra-conservative Fundamentalists have hijacked the entire religion. And then people go a step further and think that because I'm a Christian, I'm some kind of intolerant, homophobic bully who's obsessed with keeping women down, and that I furthermore want to turn this country into a theocracy. Believe me, the absolute last thing I want is a theocracy. I strongly believe in the separation of church and state. I'm also a strong supporter of freedom of religion (including freedom from religion) and freedom of speech.

What I dislike the most about the religious fundamentalists of ALL RELIGIONS in the US is the tendency they have to demonize anyone who does not agree with them. The more extreme they get the more extreme this tendency gets. This leads in many cases to violence and even death threats against people they DO NOT KNOW. For a wonderful example of extremist fundamentalist behavior do a Google search for Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church. Then do your best to hold on to your lunch.

I PERSONALLY have had people try to cast demons out of me for being a Hellenic Pagan who was making my living as a Tarot Card reader on Jackson Square in New Orleans and not even SPEAKING TO THEM. I have had preachers with bullhorns yelling at me and other readers "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" with no evidence that I was a Witch to begin with. I have had people actually say to me that religious beliefs like mine should be made ILLEGAL when I espouse OBEYING the laws of the land and making CHANGES by LEGAL means......

This is a problem that will not go away easily.....

I detest left-wing fundamentalist Christians who adopt a literal interpretation of almost all of the New Testament.

While conservatives dont literally construe the fatalistic lunacy of "Love your enemy", the left-wing fundy wackos do. This is a fact, and there is a great misconception about what fundamentalism in the USA.

Most Americans are Christians. Most Leftist are CHRISTIANS and believe almost every letter of the New Testament.

the only fear i have about them is the fact that they are trying to turn this country into a theocracy. if this occurs then it will be no better then a communist country where no one has any kind of freedom what so ever.
