Jesus, the mortal man died. Christ, the spiritual man did not. Jesus had to do this to show man that death was an illusion. There was no other way. How else could God have proven this to man? I don't subscribe to the theory that Jesus died to cleanse our sins.Think for a moment. Does that make one iota of sense? A human sacrifice ? Thats not the God I worship.

Jesus had to die because it is the ultimate statement that a pacifist can make. His death made him a martyr. Christians believe that his return three days later made him the son of god.
His death serves not only as the ultimate illustration for his principles, but also as a reminder into the bitter truth of human nature. It is in our nature to fear and destroy that which we do not understand. Certain people didn't understand Jesus and they feared what he represented.
They killed him in the worst possible way that a person could be killed and he let them do it, even though he had the power to stop it. Three days later, he returned to continue his teachings. Later, he ascended into the heavens.
Jesus once said somewhere in the Bible, "Greater love has no man than this--that he lay down his life for his friends." By laying down his life for the good of humanity, Jesus gave us an example of that love. By returning three days later, he demonstrated his power.
Just remember, there are many different types of religions out there. I don't agree with everything that is said in the Bible, but that doesn't mean there aren't still lessons to be learned. Stay open minded.

"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".
"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Since I believe these two bible verses to be true- then for sin , there must be death for all. However, we have been given a gift of eternal life, if we choose to accept that free gift. "Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin". Jesus paid the price that we could never pay, for eternal life. He is the perfect Lamb of God, that takes away the sins of the world. Could God have come up with something not involving death? No because the payment of sin is death. He died in our place.

Not being a Christian myself, I always thought the story sounded a little strange, that in order to forgive Man for his imperfectness, God would create a son, have him come to earth as a man, then die.
I don't understand how it follows. First of all, Man is just as God made him. Man was deliberately designed imperfect. Secondly, if God wanted to forgive Man, why not just -forgive- him?
In all the accounts we have of his life, Jesus never actually says "I came to die for your sins." or anything like that. So perhaps it's true, as some biblical historians claim, that this idea was added later, after Jesus was crucified.
Finally, there were many opposing factions of Christianity in the early days before the faith was 'standardized' by canonizing the New Testament. The faction led by Paul, who had never met or known Jesus, won out over the faction led by James, who had known Jesus and walked and talked with him. James' faction didn't believe Jesus was born of a virgin or that he was resurrected after death!

I used to think the same thing. I had not accepted that "the wages of sin is death" God could not or would not change His Laws,(because they are good and just laws) and since He is not only a loving God, but also a Just God, He could not let sin go without consequences... The "death " part had to be dealt with. So He made provisions for that price to be paid for us through His Son.

Yes , Satan did tried to do that but he failed; tempting Jesus for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness. So I believes he exhausted all the ways he can to stop Jesus from going to the Cross. In fact I won;t be surprised if some of those question not recorded in the Scripture may be used here as Questionnaires !

Sin is extremely serious to God.
It separates us from God because He is Holy.
God in His justice chose that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin.
Jesus, God the Son, became a man (at the same time being fully God), so that He could shed His sinless blood for us.
This is the extreme sacrifice.
Those who believe this and acknowledge their sins and who want to follow God's way, can have peace with Him now and forever. This is God's plan of redemption.

Eden, it's because of the fact that God's only means for paying the cost of sin was to die a tormented death.
He created the judicial system of heaven long ago, and it required death of the sinner - because you have to end the sickness of sin before it destroys everything.
Sin itself is a pervasively wretched spiritual disease. It corrupts and ruins all that it touches. So, God's judicial system was type of quaranteen and culling of a contagion.
Jesus fulfilled the law in that he died for our sins, not his own because he had never sinned. When a sinless man died, it was a violation of the rules of judgment - thereby creating a loop hole, which defeated the schemes of the Devil.
You have to understand that Lucifer hates God so much that he brought sin into the world to confound God's righteous judgment against sin.
But, if God fails to punish sin, he is guilty of violating his own law; which he will not do. So, by becoming man and then frustrating the purposes of Lucifer, God has brought redemption to all human souls.
If you will read the Gospels and then read the book of Romans, the book of Galatians and the Book of Hebrews, this will become more clear. You will understand the Old Testament in much better light.

Jesus is the word of God. In garden of Eden god said you will die if you eat the fruit of the tree of "good and Evil". The disobedience made the body to death. In order to reverse it God has to take back His word. So He made His word into flesh as Jesus and took so we have everlasting life

lol Doesn't bode terribly well for the reasoning powers of a creature supposed to be omnipotent.
"Hi Son. got a plan."
"Oh yes father. What's that?"
"Gonna reclaim the humans."
"Oh. Goood. Only species in the universe to make cheese. I rather like cheese. So what are you gonna do?"
"Well I thought it was about time to make a new covenant, maybe let them off the hook a little, let them into Heaven, you know the sort of thing?"
"Oh great. So how do we do that? Burning bush? Stone tablets inscribed with burning fire? The usual stuff?"
"Errrr.....well, no, not quite. It's a little more...messy than that..."
"Aha?"
"Erm...yes....I'm going to send you down to them."
"Riiiiiight. Clothed in glory and laying down the law?"
"Erm...I was thinking more of a life of pain and disappointment, followed by execution in the most painful way they know how. That should show them a thing or two, eh?"
"You're completely mad, dad, you do know that, right?"
