On Catholics: I don't accept the earthly autority of a Pope. Can't believe in the shedding of blood for sins or that the Sunday communion taken is the real body and blood of Christ. Can't believe that a merciful God would allow for eternal suffering in a Hell.
On Musilims: The idea that only Mohammed is the only true prophet doesn't make sense. The idea that suicide bombers will receive an eternal state of many wifes, sitting on a couch in a plush garden seems silly and a story that one would tell their children to make them eat all their vegtables. Any religion that does harm to others to me is false.
Christion fundamentalists: Like Star Trek said: "There can be no justice in a Universe of absolutes." I don't accept "black & white" concepts as being God inspired. Can't think that fire and brimstone is a way to get people to be good.
Athiests: We exist. There must be some reason and purpose. Only death will give an answer and if it does, athiests were wrong.

No wiki cut and pastes please. What in your mind is the definition and difference between the two?

2007-08-20 14:38:30 · 25 answers · asked by Rosebee 4

I looked for a few things: 1) one close enough to home, that I'd get to easily on Sunday, and close enough that I'd be open to getting more involved in other activities. 2) Small and cozy, rather than giant and busy. 3) Friendly, welcoming people. 4) Bible-based. 5) Where I could feel a part of a family.

I didn't consider any particular denomination since I'm currently none. Did I go about it the wrong way?

Why is it so difficult for some human beings to understand that "finding fault" with another human being is of no benefit to either party?

For my Theology class we have to present a verse and relate it to the real world, so what's your favorite, because I can't personally find one.

is not deplicted as a black man and his doctrines where "adjusted" to fit Judaism (to be said to be "white") and not to tell that he was the divine babe prophesized by a priest around the 4th dynasty of Egyptian civilization ? Of all that is written in the language (Aramaic) of the Apostles and Jesus, even in Arabic, plainly Jesus was not white and was from Galilee, a gentile. (Matthew 4:15) Galilee had once been an extention of the Egyptian Empire. Black people being oppressed even to this date in some places, why is truth marred by untruths on what Jesus looked like ?

Please don't do the "Look at the Universe thingy, that everything seemed to be in balance, that the condition is so ideal for human survival on Earth but not other places, that myriad of intricate lifeform co-exist flawlessly.......therefore, there must be a creator argument"

That argument only can be use on those already on the verge of embracing a belief for reason best known to themselves.

Mostly they are those in depression and in need to alleviate their suffering by a superior being. You see, they want to believe. That's the key to those having unwavering faith in God is, they want to, and not because there's incontrovertible truth about God.

Stop indulging in self denial my frens.

Giving money to built churches is just a waste of resources which is more beneficial spent on feeding those homeless kids in Somalia.

Darkness doesn't scare me. It's all that fake light. People say peace, love and light like it's a good thing, but what about war, hate and darkness? They express our real emotions. Light is used to cover up what we fear most.

Would you keep using it? What if there were no way to change/disable the message?

You do know that Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft) and Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) are both atheists, right? Suppose they have a hidden agenda.

What if the Bill Gates Foundation donates money to anti-Christian/pro-atheism organizations? Would you still use your Windows based PC everyday, knowing your purchase was directly harming your religion?

What if Steve Wozniak was using his millions to promote pro-evolution/anti-creationism curriculums in schools? Would you still buy Macs, and ipods and iphones?

I'm not saying any of these things are happening, because how would I know. I'm just wondering how far your hypocrisy goes.

Actually, scrap the sin part, that's a matter of belief, and everyone's entitled to their own.

The question is:

When incest is committed, the offspring reportedly have abnormalities, right? (I wouldn't know for real, cos I've never tried it)
Well, does that mean that if EVERYONE committed incest on a regular basis, and had lots of kids who also committed incest, the genetic difference would be so great that we'd turn into a world of mutants, like the X-Men?

Disgusting thought, but still. Food for the brain

Thoughts, please, Ladies and Gents

Are their expectations realistic, or do they have romantic fantasies of, oh, let's say, pirates, or the like....?

Do excellent manners and exquisite charm count for nothing??? Does one's stylish looks make one seem less manly??? Does a tantrum or two, or five....or more...make a man seem less manly????

If that is the case as I've heard asserted tonight, and otherwise, that the God of Israel is the one and only source of moral behavior and law; why then is the evidence overwhelming that all the civilizations contemporaneous with and pre-dating to the Israelite civilization contained a moral code? If as you say that "morality comes from Judeo-Christian values" why do we have Hammurabi's Code, The Egyptian Book of the dead, and evidence of moral codes in ancient Persia, Africa in the form of the Neubians, and Mesoamerica dating back as far as 1000 BCE (or B.C. for you that prefer)? Why were all these people able to figure out that one shouldn't rape, steal and murder without the help of the God of Israel, and yet you assert that Atheists have no basis for morality because it can only come from God?

Also, were the Israelites wandering the desert with Moses, prior to recieving God's law, under the impression that murder was OK?

it is just that i could see all the flaws, contradictions and illogical things in there...so how is it possible that an inspired by god book is not able of convincing me of its truth? if the bible is the only way of finding god, why is that it is not infallible?
what good is a supposedly divine book that only works if you believe it before you read it?
if in order to believe what is in the book you need to believe first that whatever in the book is truth?
