Maybe the evil you feel is actually coming from you

I am Catholic, and when I was younger, my younger sister and I would go to our friends churches sometimes, like Mormon, some holy roller church, and Baptist, and your right they always gave me the creeps, especially the holy roller church, where they roll around on the floor and speak in tongues, I never experienced anything that creepy in my life.
Now that I have my own family I realize more than ever that my Catholic faith is my comfort zone, even though I have my doubts about it too sometimes, but I think that is normal these days, with everyone. My father was a very strict Catholic, and my mother as well, but they never kept us from experiencing other churches, which I thought was odd to begin with, maybe they new this feeling themselves and wanted us to figure it out for ourselves. I don't know but if you find a good answer be sure to share.

I think you are more comfortable in a liturgical church and there is nothing wrong with that. It is more predictable and there are no surprises. The orderliness and centuries of thought have gone into making it a very satisfying experience.

On the other hand some of the other groups you mention are less predictable and more informal in their style of worship. Some fundamentalist churches are very judgmental and that may be what you are sensing when you "feel something evil."

Just accept them as they are since you are not going to change them. Attend a liturgical church where people love the Lord and where the Bible is given its rightful place in personal life and public worship.

Why are you visiting a church that isn't the same religion as yours? I'm Catholic and know people who are from a different religion. I don't attend their church because I'm faithful to my own religion. It's wrong for me to attend mass at Baptist church or a Mormon Temple or at Evangelical Church for that matter. I accept all the different religions out their but I stick to my own. I can go inside different churches that are outside my religion, I just can't attend their masses or any type of ceremony that they have going on. My best friend once invited me to her Baptist church to see her mom preform in her choir, which wasn't affiliated with her church. Since it wasn't affiliated with her church it would have been okay for me to attend the performance. I wasn't able to make it that day. My point is that when you are of a particular religion your supposed to stick with that religion. I can attend any Catholic church in the world to see a mass. I just can't attend another mass in a different religion. Maybe God is trying to tell you something because your not sticking to your religion!! It sounds like to me that you attend mass not just at your church but many other churches as well. God might not like that!!!

Because they have taught you that their way is the only way, and their "church" is the only "church" (denomination), so you don't know the truth when you see it. The truth is strange to you. You are labeling people in the church (family of believers) for that is what the TRUE CHURCH is. Not a certain denomination. We are the Body of Christ, and we are all one in Spirit and in Truth. WE are the Church! I think you are always trying to provoke anger between believers. At least by your questions on here you are.

I think that the devil is just talking in your ear! If he can keep you away from something that will help you grow or mature as a christian, he will say anything to you. Why dont you ask God to reveal to you whether this is evil or not. Do you know how to hear Gods voice? His word says that his sheep know his voice. If you dont hear it, just ask him. Ask him to decipher the voices that you are hearing. What is it that feels evil to you in these churches?

i'm sorry you feel that way, all i feel when i go to church is love and happiness. i wish that christians would quit with all the labeling of themselves and band together as 1 in christ. i know that alot of christian religions disagree on some areas, but we do all agree that we need jesus, we all praise the same lord. in the end, we will all be in the same place as brothers and sisters, we might as well start now.

Because they have taken part of God's word and tried to make it a whole. The other part of their belief system is based upon man's idea of what God will find acceptable.

That is where the evil comes from. God's true family does not take part of God's word and consider it good enough.

We evangelicals would just as soon you stay in your church all the time then.. You see we believe that Satan can't stay in the same room with Jesus and that sure isn't you. Must be that demon is trying to run but you won't let him go.

Jessica,

Religion is a profoundly deep personal choice, it is a choice you alone have to make, there is no "right" or "wrong", trust your instincts and go with what feels right, if you feel uncomfortable in a certain church then don't go there, if you have found one you feel inspired in, great!
