Even self-imposed ones?

Why do some religious people think other human beings deserve to be roasted alive for eternity for any "sin," including some utterly inconsequential ones, yet these same people see no moral problem at all with the actions of their god? A god who, by their own beliefs, encourages murder (sometimes to the point of genocide), who himself supposedly killed practically every living thing on this planet.

If a human being did half the things gods are CELEBRATED for doing, that person would be executed for crimes against humanity! So why no moral outrage?

Lets say I want to do ministry, thinking that I have a calling or passion. However, parents are doing everything to block that path. Others are saying I will do great. Some people say that I will maybe suffer financially or maybe I will have hard time. I am thinking that I want to do ministry related no matter what because God uses those who are weak / humble rather than those who are smart/ good speaker. Maybe I want to do part time ministry and later full time. How do i respond when parents dont like it? what would you do? just do ministry thinking that God will take care, have faith in him? or doing something else, going into work force, working full time rather than doing God's will, evangelism, and discipleship? How did you respond when you were called as a minister? what were ur obstacle? How did you make ur parents support you financially and prayer?

Why do some Jewish people seem to be offended by my Messianic wearing of the kippah. Do we not have the same tanakh, same G-d, same mitzvot?

Let me put it another way:
Would it sound suspect to you if your travel agent asked you to believe him that all tickets are genuine? Or If your mechanic asked you to believe him that he put genuine parts on your car?

You don´t get asked to believe! It´s like getting asked to respect! It´s something that you give only when you feel that it´s deserved.

It´s repeated at every mass and many times in the bible. Suspicious, isn´t it?
Why should it be necessary to require belief? Isn´t it because it´s not deserved?

ALWAYS MISTRUST ARGUMENTS FROM AUTHORITY!
It was valid against Pythagoras, and it´s still valid today...

GM food involves the manipulation of the mechanics of evolution. Or if you like - it messes about with God's handiwork. I would have thought this to be as contentious as abortion - or maybe plants and animals don't count even if they have genetic material from humans inserted into their DNA.

Visiting an historic church on holiday recently, I noticed a copy of "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren - a book that I've seen mentioned in various places recently. So, I picked it up and leafed through it. Frankly, I was amazed. I don't know quite what I was expecting but it seemed to be just page after page of "God is this" and "God is that" and "God wants you to do this" and "Your purpose in life is such-and-such"... In other words, a whole book devoted to utterly unsubstantiated claims, presented as cast-iron undeniable facts. Can people get away with this? If I wrote an advertising article with completely unsupported claims about Product X, I would rightly be in hot water. Is it acceptable for religious claims to be entirely exempt from this kind of safeguard?
