We don't all have to be christian! I was raised a catholic but I have turned to Paganism because this attitude of 'christianity being the only way and everyone else is wrong' is outdtaed, arrogant and foolish. I worship the vikings deities but do not worship an idol. I do not need a statue to help me focus.
By the way this isn't even a question, it is a statement. I didn't realise this was Yahoo Statements.

its very very simple, the 10 commandments are a load of crap, as is Christianity. Maybe you should come out from under your stone and look at the world, you might notice that their other religions which make allot more sense than Christianity. Try satanism instead, and you might say you cant be a satanist with out acknowledging the existence of Jehovah but satanism has been around since a long long time before Christianity.

Carpanone Kid, I was raised Babtist and Catholic and I am Pagan...I don't worship idols and never have, but I can say there were statues of Jesus in both churches, and I don't even have a statue of the God or the Goddess ANYWHERE on my alter...learn all sides of an argument before you try to get your point across...you look stupid when you don't.

Because not everyone is jewish, christian or muslim and thus do not follow those same commandments. Its simple really if your not a a follower of one of those religions the likelyhood your religion tells you not to have idols is pretty small, besides each religion has an idol figure in it.

a) Not everybody considers the Bible to be the word of God. Therefore, using the Bible as a reference isn't going to work for a whole lot of people.

b) What you call "worshipping idols" probably isn't. Most religions where statues are used to represent the Deities do NOT think that those statues are the Deities themselves.

Catholics don't worship idols.. Catholics worship a triune God. The statues are visual representations to help along prayer.

Yes, why are people creating huge stone idols to the Ten Commandments and sneaking them into courthouses in the dead of night? It clearly says you're not supposed to do that!

You must be referring to pagans. The 10 commandments were for God's people. Pagans don't know God, if they did, they would stop worshipping idols and worship Him.
