Have you ever seen the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade?
There is a scene where Indiana must cross over to the other side of a VERY deep chasm, and the only way to get across it, is to just step out onto the thin air. From all he can tell, stepping out is only going to bring him death. But out of desperation, Indiana steps out and...ta-dah! There had been a bridge made of solid stone just out in front of him the whole time!
Its the same with God, until you come out of your comfort zone, and and say, "OK God, here I am," you'll never know He's been there right in front of you the whole time.

If skepticism was encouraged then the skeptics would endanger the faith of others. That's why many faithful dislike spending too much time around non believers who have good reasons to not believe.

One is asked many things, yet required only to do what is best for the individual & Respect should be given to all till they have proven that they are not worthy.

This is an interesting way of looking at it. Yes it is suspect. I am suspect of all theologians, especially preists. This would make a good commercial slogan or something.

As Jubal Harshaw once said, "Faith seems like a sloppy way to run a Universe. How could the one true god expect his people to pick the one true religion by blind faith alone?"

no one is "required" to believe anything.... .... but christianity is about free will... no one forces you to believe it! but, in order to reap the benefits of the next life, yes, you are required to believe in that sense.
P.S. did you respond this way when your history books told you that a man named pythagoras, existed?

belief is a choice the same way love is a choice...and yes i do think its a little odd that a religion that claims such truth and fact has to ask/require/beg/trick you into believing them

Belief is not really a choice. Either you are convinced or you aren't convinced. You can choose to study something. You can even be coerced into belief through various brainwashing techniques. However, you can't really consciously decide to be convinced.

God asks us to have faith, not believe in Him (though they are closely related...). He asks for faith IN Him not OF Him. Faith = Trust and you can't have that without a knowledge of that which you are trusting: That they exist, that they are perfect, and that they love you.
