Give you a hint. In the Book of revelation, John was giving a vision on how many people were going to heaven. It is in Revelation, the last book of the bible.

If you analyse the Bible correctly, you'll figure out that the numerology used comes from jewish tradition. The jewish tradition gives a significance to every number that is not in the numerical way. For exemple, in Noah's tale, the flood lasts for 40 days and 40 nights. In the jewish tradition, 40 means a very long time.

That is why the flood lasts 40 days and the jewish tribes spend 40 years in the desert.

7 is a godly number
6 is an imprefect number (often associated with evil)

Etc.

This was done because it was impossible to maintain the stories with historical accuracy and would have ment too many numbers to remember. It allows for better aproximation and, like a poem, allows double and triple meaning.

Bottom line: don't take the Bible too litterally...

So those who go to heaven are to be rulers over the earth.
Revelation 7:4 says 144,000
Revealtion 14:1 Says 144,000

The 144,000 mentioned in the scriptures are not those that will only rule with Jesus in heaven, but are the ordained high priests holding the Melchizedek Priesthood who will go forth to all nations preaching the gospel in the last days.

To my understanding, only the Jehovah Witnesses religion believe that 144,000 will be qualified to enter heaven. Not so. There is no limit to those fully qualified to enter the Celestial Kingdom of God--provided they obey all of God's commandments and have followed the newest covenant of eternal marriage in the Lord's temples.

It is more about God then concentrating on the number of people that is going to heaven..what about sin today, what about the need of men and women today.

Do you know whos names are written in the book of life. Revelations 20.

God says Pray and pray.

It is not the 144,000 twelve tribes of Israel. If you keep reading the scriptures, it teaches there was a number that no man could number that had washed their robe in the blood of the lamb. Remember Revelation is sign and symbols. The 144,000 could be true or a number to suggest out of all the children of Israel only a few would made it, just as out of the number of Christians only a few will made it. I hope you are one of those.

I've never seen anything saying how many people are going to heaven, but I know it's not 144,000. That's the number of Jewish Witnesses (Jews converted to Christianity) during the Tribulation. There will be more than 144,000 people in heaven, but it will be a lot less than what people think.

Revelations 7:9
After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

The 144,000 are Hebrew only. Twelve thousand from each of twelve tribes.

The verse I quote says darn near everyone else will be there too.

I don't think anyone really knows what happens after you die. The bible has evolved over so many years, I don't believe that the information that has carried over has been that correct.

And who's to say it was nothing but a story?

The bible and it's contents have been debated for many many years.

I think it's a very personal decision you have to make about what will happen afterwards. I think the churchies will just be happy that you believe.

Well, actually if you read the book of revelations you'll have a picture of what is heaven and hell. It is said in the bible that in order for us to go to heaven and be with God again is that we have to accept Christ in our lives. :) if we accept Christ into our lives we know and we believe that we are saved. :)
