Would you keep using it? What if there were no way to change/disable the message?

You do know that Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft) and Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) are both atheists, right? Suppose they have a hidden agenda.

What if the Bill Gates Foundation donates money to anti-Christian/pro-atheism organizations? Would you still use your Windows based PC everyday, knowing your purchase was directly harming your religion?

What if Steve Wozniak was using his millions to promote pro-evolution/anti-creationism curriculums in schools? Would you still buy Macs, and ipods and iphones?

I'm not saying any of these things are happening, because how would I know. I'm just wondering how far your hypocrisy goes.

Well... I'm not a hypocrite (not more than any average middle class 23 year old male, third world country native that is).

Well, unlike you, I don't like to judge people based on their beliefs (pretty hypocrite of you by the way).

If Bill Gates donated money to anti-Christian/pro-atheism organization I would not use a windows based PC anymore

If the guy from apple were using his millions to promote pro-evolution/anti-creationism curriculum's in schools! Well, I'd buy an ipod immediately!!!!

(If both things above happened at the same time, I'd change everything from Microsoft to apple).

That's it dude, hope you don't just ignore and thumb down this answer. Think about it a little

Paz de Cristo dude

"The following is a public service message:

This machine and the data accessible herein are artifacts of a modest little something we like to call: REALITY.

Up until about 1970 or so, reality was both self-evident and self-supporting. Then it took a hard hit over the head with a Bible. It then endured a sustained round of nut-clobbering from -- well, a lot of nuts.

As you can imagine, this was rather hard on Reality. But it persisted, and remained unchanged. That's what it does.

This being the case, Reality does not actually require your support. Nevertheless, said support is appreciated by your fellow Realists. Take a moment to think of them as you catch up on your email and surf the 'net.

Thank you and good night."

What if I were using Bill Gate's invention and running a Christian website? What if I played Christian music on my Ipod? What if I had millions of dollars and used them to run an online Christian business to feed the poor?
As Christians we are supposed to be in the world system, but not of it. Just as you find ways to manipulate the system to further your causes, so do we. Where is the hypocrisy in that? What is your point?

My hypocrisy only goes so far. When it comes to my computer spewing pro/anti theoligical dogma at me whenever activated, I would find that annoying. But I don't believe that buying a computer with Windows is supporting atheism anymore than watching Mission Impossible I, II, or III supports Scientology.

I'd just shrug it off. So what if Gates and Wozniak are atheists? And if Wozniak advocated teaching scientific theory in schools, more power to him. It's their money, and they have the right to spend it as they wish. If I had as much money as they do, I'd probably be supporting several faith-based charity endeavors, so why can't they spend their money on programs that are meaningful to them?

i would think conspiracy-minded theists would be more suspicious of charles simonyi than gates or wozniak:

"In 1995 he established an endowed chair for the Charles Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University, the first occupant of which is Richard Dawkins."

*gasp*

That would annoy me, even as an atheist/agnostic. I think the religious would have to put up with it. The internet's too powerful a tool for "spreading the word." Like racists who enjoy a day off on Martin Luther King's birthday, but are a little pissed off about the reason.

The same could be asked of atheists. Did you know that our president is a Christian? Are you going to stop living in the U.S. and stop paying your taxes because our government is headed up by a Christian?

Yes, I would stop using them and will break out my old commodore 64 and find some way to hook it up to the Internet. The one that hooks up to the television and uses audio tapes to record files...
