Does Hebrews 4:15 indicate that God was not sure whether his Son would be faithful? "Absolutely not"
God's purpose was to equip his Son to be a compassionate High Priest, able to “sympathize with our weaknesses.” (Hebrews 4:15) To meet the requirements for this role was one of the reasons the Son came to earth as a human. Here, as a man of flesh and blood, Jesus was exposed to circumstances and influences that he previously had only observed from heaven. Now he was able to experience human feelings and emotions firsthand. At times he felt tired, thirsty, and hungry. Even more, he endured all manner of hardships and suffering. He thus “learned obedience” and became completely qualified for his role as High Priest.

The test to Jesus Christ was to prove to us and the angels, that a perfect man under these conditions can be faithful to God until the end. The question was raised whether humans can remain faithful to God or not after Adam and Eve, perfect humans, chose to disobey God.

The answer to your question is no. God, being omniscient, knew that Jesus would be faithful. This verse simply means that Jesus went through temptations just as we do. The English Standard Version says "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin." Basically this verse is a comfort to the Christian. We can know that our Savior and "High Priest" was tempted just as we are and was able to stand up under it, and He can sympathize with us when we are tempted.

No, it indicates that, when he assumed human form (when he put on a human suit if you will), Jesus had the opportunity to experience the same temptations that all of us face. This verse indicates that God understands how difficult it can be to resist the temptations of our earthly bodies and also gives us hope that we can learn to resist those temptations the same way Jesus did.

No, just he was just trying to do a "don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes" kind of thing.
Hebrews 4:15:
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.

Where do you get that idea from that verse? The verse says, "we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are— yet was without sin."
Since Jesus has been subjected to like temptations as we have, he can have empathy for us.

That was not the meaning. Jesus was tested by Satan certainly but, also by just daily living as a human. The scripture is about surviving that and remaining faithful. He could do it so knows what we face each day as opposed to say, just reading about it. We can have faith that his judgments do consider what it is like to be human.

God knows everything - omniscience is one of His attributes. Jesus was put under the test to prove to us that He is faithful. It is human nature to want proof of everything and that is why we needed to be reassured that the Lord Jesus Christ is faithful.

Jesus was faced with temptation like the rest of us but he did not give in to it....................
God the Father knew his son and was not worried:
Mat 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Peace be with you

the writer is stating that jesus was tempted by satan in ALL areas, and repelled the offers.and remained sinless.so he can simpathize with our trials and temptations.
the next verse is stating that we can go before the lord in our weakness, and trials and find grace and mercy.
hope this helped.
god bless!!
