Buddhist, Christian, Sufi, Wiccan, whatever your path - could you be deceived about it?
What certainty do you have - of your own knowledge, not what anyone has told you, however high their authority - what certainty do you have of the truth of your particular way?
How can you be sure?

Look at cities like Las Vegas and Amsterdam and Bangkok. Population 550,000, 750,000 and 7,000,000. However, no matter how full of vice these cities are, no sane person would contend that these cities contain many innocent babies and children. If one of those cities were completely destroyed the world would mourn the loss of many innocent lives.

So, for anyone who contends that God was perfectly justified in destroying those two cities as it says in the Bible, what of the children and babies?

...or sitting on their keysters in recliners reading religious books, listening to religious shows on the radio & TV?

The devoutly religious people I know, and know of, are only worrying about their souls and keeping after other's souls. I feel if they are that good, they should be in Utah helping get the miners out, in hurricane areas helping victims of the storms, and in the city streets helping those in need.

Okay now everyone tell me why I am wrong about that?

In other words, do true believers truly rest there beliefs o nothing but faith, or do they point to evidence that no believers consider to be inconclusive?

Surely such a vast undertaking would have been recorded.

I'm not nit-picking or causing trouble, this was a question brought up at a woman's study group through the church.

The bible is very specific about David picking up 5 smooth stones, but he only needs one. Why specifically 5? Why not say instead a few or several?

Supposedly everything in the bible has significance and meaning, so what is significant about 5 stones?

that god created everything and not satan?

The way the old testimant is compared to the new, it seems like god was 2 different entities. Satan created all and god took over. god was the snake and had eve eat the from th etree of knowledge saving us from satan. then he took over and cast satan out of heaven.

Would this not make sence?

Whatever happened to "live and let live" or "different paths to the same truth"? I know plenty of people who are not of my religion and I've never once felt that they were wrong because they believed something different.

Thoughts?

Based on a question today i looked it up.

Jesus was born in 0ad and died 30ad(ish), then 4 decades passed before apostle Paul (formally Saul) seen jesus in a vision from god.

He then wrote 80,000 words which is all we have on the early days of christ, Paul was real however, no one told his Jesus was a man who recently lived.. no one told Paul, Paul never heard of

Mary
Joseph
Bethlehem
Herrid
John the Baptist
Any of his miracles
Quote anything jesus was supposed to have said
Mentions Jesus having a ministery of any kind at all
Does not know about an enterance to jerusalem
Does not mension pontius pilot
Roman mobs
Any trials

He does not know of any of what we call christianity apart from the cross, the resurrection and the ascension.

Whats more, he never places any of these events on earth.

"If Jesus had been on earth, he would not even have been a priest"
Hebrews 8:4

So where does the rest come from if he was the closest link to Jesus after 40y?

Is it because they, subconciously, know their beliefs are irrational and, if subjected to the harsh light of reason, would not hold up?
Are they, on some level, aware of the incosistencies and contradictions in the Bible and can only sustain their faith by shutting their eyes and plugging their ears and screaming their beliefs to themselves?
Are they afraid that there are more compelling beliefs systems out there and so intentionally blind themselves to the outside world?
And, if we accept that burying your head in the sand is not the best way to find the truth, what is the best way to persuade them to open their eyes and see? Or are they a lost cause?

This is not allowed in Islam. A person who commits suicide goes to hell. What do you think of this quote?

"Q. What about suicide bombing?

A. Suicide for any purpose is prohibited in Islam. Quran says, “Do not put yourself to destruction with your own hands” (2:195). A Tradition of the Prophet Muhammad says, “And if somebody commits suicide with anything in this world, he will be tortured with that very thing on the Day of Resurrection.” Suicide bombing involves killing oneself as well as others. So it is doubly condemned"
