Pretty much. Most people won't admit that they could be wrong, even if they have doubts that they could be wrong. I personally believe that God has many avenues to reaching different cultures. Quite frankly, none of us (all people) may not have it completely right. Most of us believe in a higher being, which is the one thing that unites us. Isaiah 55:8 My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

The problem is there aren't different "paths to the same truth". Christ said "I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life". The wreckage in religion occurs when you have oh, several hundred million, or so people all pulling in different directions, each with their own mind made up as to what this means or that means. Interestingly enough, this doesn't just happen in religious matters; whole families are ripped apart because they can't get on the same sheet of music and understand the importance of what family means and who's in charge.
I'm not suggesting a "don't ever question anything" mentality, but too many people in religion and families just want to rock the boat for the sake of doing so, and wind up capsizing it for everyone else. Individuality is fine up to a point; beyond that is the threshold where stupid mistakes get made and alot of love and commitment get lost. Christians need to unite and get on the same sheet of music. Period.

What if "different paths to the same truth" is nothing more than something a person would read on a holiday card?
I'm not saying a person is wrong for believing what they believe. I am not questioning the sin
cerity of their beliefs.
What I do question is the validity of those teachings.
I'm not the one who said "No one comes to the Father except through Me."
And I really don't think "No one" and "except" are really open to interpretation.
Please don't call me close minded, for I've pointed you to the one you should call close minded. Just got a feeling when Buddha or Muhammed decide to lay down their life as a sacrifice for others, and then return from the tomb to validate their sacrifice and it's results, then they too can say "only through Me."

Yes. Strife in almost any field is caused by a "my way or the highway" mentality. That's why I've resolved to turn my back on such an attitude, and my life's been improved for having done so.

Some religions convert actively, and the other religions feel threatened. Jesus had the same mentality, his way or the highway. There were no other options open for salvation.

what they believe in on other people and really force
their dogma on everybody and judge and condemn is
really all they ever know and do to people
and the need to be right all the time sheesh get a life and

No. Most religious strife is caused by 'in-group' / 'out-group' behavior. It is a socially and psychologically immature function where those who are considered to be different are thought of as needing to be eliminated, whether for self-preservation, or to please a god, or whatever.
Religion is the way to identify 'them' in an 'us' or 'them' approach to life.

Certain religions (cough cough) claim the 'My Way Or The Highway' absolutist doctrine.
But this is OK, as there have never been religious wars, nor have people ever been killed because of this.
If you can't see it their way, you just hate their 'god', and you're a social pariah that will burn forever, OK?

But that is just the thing. If you claim your religion is the one, ultimate truth all the rest must be automatically wrong. Religion is divisive.
