Do people really understand what the bible is all about with out knowing the time frame involved?
Does the bible give the time frame all but the day and the hour and what day and hour is the bible talking about?

WASHINGTON – Evangelical, mainline and the Catholic traditions were all citing scriptures from the same Bible as support for their stance on global warming, yet they still remained intensely divided over the issue as they shared their views before a U.S. senate committee on Thursday

Do you think they are quoting End Time Scripture to the Senate?

Ok, so supposedly, god loves us all. But if we do something bad and not say "sorry" or whatever it is, we will all go to hell and burn and suffer? Is that what you call love? Is that what you call forgiving? I think that it's harsh.
Also, if you believe in aliens, vampires, ghosts ect. you're insane but if you believe in a man in the sky that's watching your every move, you're normal and blessed?
I really don't understand this. I'm really sorry if this offends you in any way, but I'm just wondering why. Please no mean or rude answers.

Let's use cannabis as an example. : p

Soaking in water, a cannabis seed will germinate within anywhere from one day to a week. At that time, if it is not removed from the water and planted in the soil... it... will... die.

Cannabis is an annual. It lives for one season and dies. It depends on new seeds surviving and reproducing, every single year. If the entire world is flooded, that means every cannabis plant on earth dies along with their seeds.

So the fact that cannabis is still around, and not extinct, tells me that there was no flood.

According to the famous economist I. M. Lyon (say his name out loud), economic factors are a legitimate determinant of belief. So if one belief can make more money than another, then that belief must be more true. By applying this to the evolutionism/creationism debate, we can see a clear winner.

Most people know that the Bible is the best selling book of all time. It has sold many more copies than "Origin of Species." This proves that more people believe in the Bible than in the "Origin of Species" and therefore that the Bible is more true.

If the Bible is more true than Origin of Species, then creationism must be more true than evolution. Anybody who says otherwise just denies the truth of I. M. Lyon.

I predict that 50% of respondents will be mad at me for believing in an invisible sky pixie. 20% will agree with me. 30% will get the joke. Let's see how close I am. Also, despite the fact that I just said this post was a joke, most of the replies will take me seriously.

mankind coming from a single celled organism blob (evolution) or the dust of the field (bible) is a stretch to both non theists and non evolutionists and to people who have not been immersed in either theism or branches of science that support evolution. So the question is:
Is it more plausible or logical to believe that something that seems so impossible or miraculous whether evolution( when used to deny the existence of God), or creation could happen with or without a divine hand? both beliefs basically say everything came from a state of being void.., but is it more rational to believe everything happened by itself, or that some intelligent being was behind it seeing the apparent detail and harmony that the cosmos possesses, and how forces are orchestrated perfectly to maintain human life? To me both evolution and creation seem impossible when trying to rationalize , but I believe as the scripture says "with God all things are possible" which is why I go with the God&Bible

the religion in question, as opposed to just saying God? Christians are under the assumption that their deity is the only deity and their belief is the only correct belief, and frankly, I don't think it's fair to support their belief by making their deity the default deity in question when someone refers to god. This only encourages their belief and practice.

I think a great solution would be to make them specify which god they are refering to when they post questions about God. It would help them to realize that theirs isn't the only one out there, and definitely not the default deity that everyone references when asking theological questions.

Once they can accept that there are other ideas and concepts of god that are believed in just as much as theirs, they may eventually start to realize that other ideas are just as accepted as valid as theirs is, and just might make them a little more tolerant of others. What do you all think?

If God made everything, then God made sexuality. If that's true, God made homosexuals who they are. But if homosexuality is a sin, isn't this cruel treatment on God's part of His own creatures?

I ask because I've read several Christians explain that homosexuality isn't the sin, but the act of homosexual sex is. This means that, despite their God given sexuality, God is also asking them to deny who they are.

I've never understood this, and this is a major reason as to why I cannot be Christian. Why would God create homosexuals, then tell them they can never engage in homosexual sex, which, technically, is also a creation of God if God created everything?

If sex is something to be saved for marriage, would legalizing same-sex marriage negate homosexual sex as a sin?

I'm desperately trying to understand for the sake of respecting my Christian friends' beliefs. Right now, I'm horrified by some Christians views on homosexuality.

Why do you guys believe in it, there is evidence that it was just a story based on the infamous Gilgamesh. The Adam and Eve story, the Garden of Eden is not real, we cannot locate it, its just a place somewhere, maybe it died away, but its not real now, and the great flood, there was a flood yeah but, that could have gotten a story fit into it. Another is the creation of the world, no god did not create the world, if he did he was stupid and for got about other galaxies, they are there too, the earth is made by the core of mealting lava, and then the layers grew within billions of years, the humans come from primates, and the primates came from dinosaurs that were once living, and dinosaurs came from fish, and fish came from bacteria, and thats how all of us got started we are just like bacteria, we all came from one, and some time soon we will evolve again.

More and more, there are couples who choose to live together for along period of time before getting married. This in itself is considered a sin. But these couples often chose this route because they want to make sure they are making the right decision. If they live with the person first, they know what it would be like to be married to that person.

Should couples like that refrain from premarital sex?

Additionally, more couples are deciding not to get married at all. They don't feel the need to have their union recognized legally for various reasons.

Should these couples also refrain from premarital sex?
