Voila! an excellent topic in which common ground between two very different things must be found. Whether you believe in Global Warming or not the fact still remains temperatures are rising and the polar ice caps are melting. You'd have to blind or live under a rock to not notice this stuff. The main reason I think that many people put this off as fiction is because if they agree and follow science this time it makes them look bad for putting other things off that science has also proven fact (evolution, big bang theory, etc.). They don't wanna side with it now to avoid looking bad in the long run which is plain BS. It's winter here in Florida and we're facing 80 degree weather! I mean it's always hot, no lie, but winter is usually the time where it drops to at least 60. Why people can't put their beliefs aside to realize our planet is in serious trouble is beyond me. Either way Christianity has always done the opposite of what it's supposedly meant to do....

I don't know what they are citing from in the Bible.
I am not against the idea of global warming I just don't think modern man is the big problem. This planet was designed to have climate changes, i.e. previous ice ages and warming spells. This global warming agenda is a political scam. for more information check out prisonplanet.com/articles/march2007/100307swindle.htm
for a 75 min. program called "The Great Global Warming Swindle" (the definitive response to Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth")

However, down the table were conservative evangelical leaders who oppose laying most blame for global warming on humans and reject proposals to significantly cut carbon emission – the main contributor of greenhouse gases – which they say will have a devastating effect on the world’s poor. (Is this for real? These people really honestly believe this?)
Letter signers had accused Cizik of misrepresenting evangelicals when he spoke on global warming as if they were united on the issue and that his advocacy was detracting attention from more important issues such as abortion and same-sex unions (Same sex marraige and abortion more important than our ice caps melting?????)
Ok, sorry, but christians, evangelicals and other "god fearers" just say so many unverified things, have no support but the bible for their statements...and anyway, I would imagine it was end time scriptures or maybe something from the begining with Noah and the flood.

“To tie the authority of the Bible to the shifting and revisable scientific and public policy proposals of one’s global warming agenda is unhelpful to the debate at best and trivializing of Christian faith at worst,” advised Dr. Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
THAT is the only sensible comment. There is climate change. That much is true. But to blame man for it is risible.
The Bible gives a clear instruction about the end. So either this is the end of the world (so nothing can be done) or it is a cyclical climate change (so no one should worry and again, nothing can be done). Either way climate change is about controlling the people and taxing the people and building the one world government.
Bible states:
Genesis 8
21And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
SO the seasons are safe til the end and if it is the end then prepare to meet your Maker.

I think the scripture they were quoting was probably about feeding the hungry, etc. because the article states that they believe that the poor of the world will suffer the most from global warming.

No, not all of them, because as the article states:
they are "intensely divided."
In other words, they believe different things.
Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schiori is also trained as an oceanographer and testified that she believes it is a danger, as do Catholics, as do an emerging group of Evangelicals.
Yes, religion has done a lot of harm. But if you're so anti-ignorance, at least read the articles you refer to.

The basis for global warming is quite clearly written in the bible. Mankind is becoming more evil and sinful. We are literally going to hell here on earth. Hence, the warming, as we get closer to the fires of hell. There is no need to consider the stance of science, which is also evil, as that will only lead us away from the truth of what I have said here.

Does that mean that Christians don't believe in Global Warming? Would they believe it if someone wrote a book about it? They believe in the bible....

i am 49 years old..i strongly recall same sciences said..the ICE AGE was coming..in early 70's.
THE BIBLE TELL THE FUTURE...check it out.
So...who do you listen to...
So to me...these expert of religion (without power of GOD in them.(you'll see signs and wonders around them) are the like or scholars of Jesus dasy..who PERSECUTED the Son of GOD.
christianity mixed with humanism.
I rather listen to Apostles, prophets, evangelists who has the POWER OF GOD..OF salvaiton..healing..delivrance..prediction of things to come to pass..ect. (which elijahlist.org or com?) has many of them.and they are PROVEN to be "REAL apostles/prophets) of GOD. these folks..is WHO i highly respect..
NOW...the bible predicted the world will BURN UP.
then a new heaven and eaerth to come.
when is that..as bible said..THOSE who born of/after 1967..will see the end of "THIS AGE". so that could be kids and grandkids of them..who are born near 1967.
NOW..in Isaiah/elijah days..he was a prophet that spoke..NO RAIN for 3 and 1/2 years...by the order or allowance of GOD.
to witneess to FALSE RELIGION.
that same power is still available tooday.and more power of Christ..dwell in us..then the power that dwells in all of the prophets of OLD.
(bible predict there will be a 3 1/2 years famine/drought.at the very very last edge of this age..so that is NOT NOW..we're a long way from 2067 or 20?? we will not the season..as we get closer..bible said..like a woman carrying a child..for 9 months..at last minute..great anguish/pain..ect..and release of SONS OF GOD..will come..as Christ again..on earth..in His glory..blah blah.
So basically saying..it is NOT MAN DOING..of GLOBAL WARMING.
many a slight..of 1/2 or 1/4? but not fully.
replant trees..ect.
do what is RIGHT.
AN physical nature is NOT the CAUSE
man's SINFUL NATURE IS THE CAUSE..of global warming.
for SIN..destroying the earth...which is written.
the earth in sort..is a living thing..and it's dying.
had you not notice..the taste of our food and water and milk..all things that once was natural..is mixed with chemical..some for purpose of making $$$$$$$$ some for the purpose to 'self protect the crop or livestock" from diseases..ect..again..if sin..isn't..there be no disease.
but sin bring curses..
it's a bigger picture.
preparing for global warm up..go for it..
water is predicted to exceed the cost of black OIL..in the future...water will be more precious than black oil.
yet..we need oil..we can modify government..wealthy businesses to run on wind..solar power or whatever else..soon to come..
but the average US..and the world..NEED OIL..to drive our van..car..heat our homes...ect.
spending money for government USE to save us ON TAXES
is GOOD investment..
the government need to reduce oil consumpsion..to save us in taxes..in federal and state and local..public schools need to be part of this energy..so teacher's pay..is suitable..
in case you didn't notice..church and state government is mixing here...which is GOOD...because the church is what shape a culture.and the culture is who elect someone in politics.
so truly..you can't separate church and government..
in old testement..government and religion were ONE..and the same...yet..we ahve freedom of speech and rights to say..no..i don't want to believe..that is fine..this still a christian nation..period..don't shut down my faith..for your non unity of faith with me..MAJORITY RULES..christianity stays.. religion or a culture in our nation..are well intertwined with politics.
forgive my rambling and grammar.
