In another of my questions, someone said that sex was a "gift from God." It is my understanding that Christians believe everything around is a gift from God.

Why, then, are we asked to use some gifts differently than other gifts? For instance, we are asked to use our kindness and love as frequently as possible as those are gifts from God. But our sexuality we are asked to limit despite also being a gift from God.

There is, of course, the obvious answer that not all gifts should be used all the time. However, I don't understand the limitation of saving sex until marriage if it is a gift from God that allows us to express love.

A.K.A. Why is premarital sex considered a sin?

No, I'm not Christian. I'm agnostic. I'm trying to understand the attitudes and reasoning behind Christianity's perspective on sexuality.

No harm or rudeness intended. Please let me know if you think the wording of my question or my details are rude.

Homosexual Lutheran clergy who are in sexual relationships will be able to serve as pastors, the largest U.S. Lutheran body said on Saturday. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) passed a resolution at its annual assembly urging bishops to refrain from disciplining pastors who are in "faithful committed same-gender relationships." The resolution passed by a vote of 538-431. "The Church ... has just said 'Do not do punishments'," said Phil Soucy, spokesman for Lutherans Concerned, a gay-lesbian rights group within the church. "That is huge." The ELCA, which has 4.8 million members, had previously allowed gays to serve as pastors so long as they abstained from sexual relations

So what Bible are they teaching and preaching from????

Jesus does not return with flowers in his hand singing in a choir. Read the best answer I gave the fellow brother on the question posted below. He spoke the truth, about Jesus return.

Why, why not?

What is your mood towards Death or when you think of Death?

For me,
I feared Death for a long time. Until recently, I've read a book that made me realize that Death may not be as bad as it may seem. I believe now that life is painful and Death is peaceful.
I also view Death as white in color rather than black. Dying is painful...but Death isn't. Your drift into peace. I also believe that Death doesn't look like the Grim Reaper. It can look entirely different.

There is emerging evidence to support the theory that belief in God is built into human evolution as a survival mechanism. In other words, we are "supposed" to believe because it makes us better able to cope with the hardships of life. If this is true, are we better off not knowing that it is true?

You are considered a child until you are an adult (adolescent is still a child). You are not an adult until you are 18. Does this mean that you are not held accountable in God's eyes for your sins until you can make an adult decision?

I have lived in Utah for 15 years, and for years I have had people try and convert me to Mormonism. (in the best of manners, but it is from all sides of me) I finally gave up trying to find truth in their relgion (I had wanted to be Mormon for a long time), and now I can't let it go. It is haunting me. Stronger than it ever was. The people act the same, I am not avoiding it, and I have stopped wanting it for a long time now. I just don't get why I am so obsessive right now. Might this be a hint that it is true? That my very being won't let it go. (ahh don't hit me!)

Note: I'm not looking for why Mormonism is fiction or anything. I'm looking for help on why I am acting like this.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless. - Psalm 84:11

If you were running for political office, what approach would your opponent take against you? If he wanted to launch a smear campaign, would there be any ammunition for him to use? Think how you would feel if the director of the opposing campaign came to you afterwards and said, "Sir, we tried to find something negative to play up in our campaign against you, but we couldn't."

What does it really mean to be a person who is blameless before God? Being blameless before God does not mean we are perfect. No human being is perfect. It means that we so fully trust in God that we are willing to make things right when we fail. We are willing to humble ourselves continually before the throne of God.

So "Deke Radio" played Wyclef singing "Redemption Song", the Bob Marley classic. Now here is a song that can be covered by any artist of talent and sound fantastic. Cash did a version. U2 does it live. Stevie Wonder. Alicia Keys.

I find Joe Strummer's version particularly moving:

What's your "Redemption Song"? A song that frees you. A song of forgiveness; perhaps one that helps you forgive yourself? A song that represents a rebirth in your life. Or quite simply, a song that you relate to personal redemption.

Me? I say "One" by U2. It's ambiguous enough to be read in several ways, but it was originally a dialectic between a gay, HIV positive son pleading with his disapproving dad. I choose "One" by U2, the version with Mary J. Blige. Adding a woman's voice changed the song and personalized it for me.

I'm simply asking because I read someone's answer on a question that said homosexuality was wrong cause the penis wasn't designed to go in a man's butt. They compared using a knife to tighten a screw than a screwdriver. I've used a knife to tighten a screw before, what does it matter if it wasn't designed for that (actually, how do you know? My dad is a carpenter and sometimes you have to use what you have to use) but at times, it is all you have to use. That doesn't make it wrong to use.

I know, I know, it sounds incredibly obvious. But let's really think hard about this. I believe in God, but I don't believe I deserve to go to Hell for my sins, because I am still a good person. I am honest and I treat others with respect. Check out this answer that was posted to my last question, where I asked if it is required for me to believe I deserve eternity in Hell in order to be a Christian:

"Linz, I'm sorry you think you haven't done anything worthy of being separated from God... You must be just an utterly fantastic person -- kind to everyone, loving all the time, always humble, always pure in thought, always giving of yourself to others.

Personally, I'm a screw-up. And I need him. "

NO, I'm not PERFECT, but NO, I don't deserve Hell either. Can't any Christian agree with that? Maybe you're too scared?
