Uhhhh, they can..... Paul was talking about a paticular group of people, in a certain city at a time long ago...you really have to read a bit further to see how the Church matures and grows to understand these things. This did not apply to all people every where....... lol... Pastor Dennis D Kelley, Assembly of the Brethren Ministries-World Outreach Center

Because God's creation is an ordered one. Everything has a place and a purpose.

Women should not complain because they do not have the same design as men...women have their own. A woman's place and job in the Church, the family etc. is just as important as a man's. Just different.

You could say, why doesn't God allow men to have babies? Because he doesn't, that is the plan and purpose for a woman. God set up men to be the spiritual head...that is their purpose.

People assume that to say someone shouldn't do something means they are being kept away from something special, or somehow held back. That's not true. When everything works in it's place as it's supposed to, the creation of God is beautiful and perfect.

There is a section in the pastoral epistles (Timothy, Titus, etc) that states that women should be silent in church and not teach a man.

This has been debated by churches some suggest there was a problem in that particular church with particular women that Paul was addressing. Others see it as an edict forbidding women to teach. I haven't studied the issue to say conclusively what Paul is actually saying, but that is where that idea comes from.

Hope that helps.

This was in the early church and was a rule to stop certain women from drawing believers into heresy. No where is this to be a permanent law. You should research Paul. You quote is 1 Timothy 2:12. Notice the usurping of authority, that is the key to understanding this. That is what was happening at the time.

If you look back a bit to where christianity was rooted from it is obvious that it comes from judaism. In those times you never found women to be teachers. However there were and are prophetess. It is perhaps the residue of the jewish faith that carried over in the christian faith on its view of women teachers. Explore that question by ascertaining Rabbis and then the church. Anyways for the record in the Holy Bible its says that, God is pouring His spirit upon all flesh and that he is no respecter of persons. In my experience in exploring that question I found that men are just generally pigheaded and have issues about women. Quite frankly they should not be allowed to hold any spiritual position, whether it be in mosque, synagogue, temple, church etc. That kind of teaching is crippling to a flock of people wanting to grow in their faith. Anyways ask the rabbis then ask the church. Have fun.

Many women are teachers in church and some are even pastors. That quote from the Bible is outdated and most of it comes from the Old Testament.

particularly the verses that talk approximately that are in connection with a definite church in Corinth. the ladies and adult adult males sat on separate aspects of the church, and the ladies had an inclination to yell around the room on an identical time as the preacher replaced into giving a message. This verse is taken out of context each and all of the time, in spite of the shown fact that it easily hopes to recognize somewhat historical past on an identical time as I examine my Bible.

I believe it's because Paul forbids it. Not sure where the verse is, though, but it has to do with Eve being the first to sin in the Garden of Eden and being subject to the male. I don't know that this is anything for salvation to revolve around, and some churches just point to a cultural difference and allow women in the ministry.

This prohibition dates back to a time when a woman's word was considered less than a man's word. Today, Paul's instruction is outdated. Just as his advice on dividing and sharing property, living communally and Jesus' commands to surrender all belongs and give them to the poor and to pray privately and quietly......(sarcasm)
