In Vedas Name and Forms and the hierarchy of these matter, but in Vedanta more than the shapes, what comprises that shape matters more.

if we try to deduce the ritualistic and heirarchial parts in Vedas and then try to project it into Capitalism by replacing God with Money, the arguements hold good. Its somewhat a distorted version of Vedas with the aim not Godhood, but Material Money and Material Comforts the underlying thread of Capitalism.

Perhaps the extreme rightist Capitalism virtually assimilated the theme or underlying thread of whatever said in the time immemorial Vedas in a ditto manner with only the Aim, a being a different one.

The same hold good for Vedanta as subtle thread for the Leftist Philosophy.

Is this true? Would seem a little stupid someone showing stigmata on their hands when that has no biblical importance whatsoever don't you think? Recently i was told that when people tested hand crucifictions and found it to be impossible religious people changed their minds and said they crucified through the wrists. Have they themselves proven hand stigmata to be completely fake or stupidity on the part of god's affliction with this phenomenon?

i see ghosts occasionally, and it really doesnt effect me, well last night i saw a ghost that scared the crap out of me. i dont know why, but it made me feel unsafe. i was coming upstares at about 2 in the morning, when i saw my door was cracked with the light was on. (dont worry, thats how i left it) i noticed through the crack in the door, a shape that looked like a person. i couldnt see it very well, so i thought it was probablt just some junk or something and as soon as i touched the doornob, it ran away, when the door was all the way open, i looked around and saw nothing, just a messy room.. i was really scared so i went to the bathroom and right as i was at the doorframe, i heard a strange noise. i thought it might be just the pipes so when i took another step forward, i heard it a bit clearer, it was a girl whispering in my ear. she sounded about 6-10 inches away, but when i looked around, nothing. so i ran to my sisters room and demanded that she come with me

1) There are many fantastic Christian athletes and they tend to have long productive careers and stay productive after retiring.

2) There are VERY few liberal/atheist athletes. Far fewer than their percentage of the general population. And, they tend to be morons like Mike Tyson and Mike Vick who squander their talents and wind up in prison followed by hell.

Why do some people go around talking about "God this and that" as if God controls their everday life? Realistically, we have free will and God is not going to interfere in everyday life. Look, if you stand in front of a moving train, God is not going to save you. I don't see God saving lives or preventing disasters such as car accidents, soldiers being killed in Iraq (Dang Prez Bush), or natural disasters. This tells me that we must rely on ourselves as much as possible. Science is important because that is how we develop technology and medical treatments. God may have created us, but we must do for ourselves as much as possible.

It is obvious that there are users who patrol Yahoo Answers for the purpose of censoring out people who post specific content (e.g. counter-homophobic and atheistic questions/answers). According to community guidelines this kind of behavior is a violation. The other side of this is that Yahoo Answers seems to be doing nothing to stop this behavior and targeting these kinds of postings as well. This makes me wonder what kind of people are running Yahoo or Yahoo Answers. I'm not talking about some massive religious conspiracy but the likelihood that Yahoo Answers is turning a blind eye to religiously motivated discrimination and harassment and participating in it as well. Would other users who have had similar problems with this site please share your thoughts?

Josephus--the part about Jesus has been proven to be a forgery inserted by christians scribes hundreds of years after Josephus wrote his original

Suetonius--speaks of "chrestus" as though he is a person still living in Rome in the 60's.

Tacitus--mentions the death of Christ but 200 years after the event took place, calls the christian religion a "superstition"

Pliny: mentions that the christian cult was in existence (in the early 2nd century) no surprise here.

The fact is there were many "christs" or messiahs and NO ONE makes mention of the "fact" that Jesus was the son of god, or rose from the dead, or even mentions "Jesus" by name.

I have a split personality at last!!!

This personality is a Vile Temptress who plans to be rather nasty to people, but good enough to star every question and thumbs-up every answer. This goodness is provided to me by my other personality. My hate is directed to all, but cannot overcome this love.

My other personality is a demon. A demon who summons fire only on those who are nasty. He (yes we are truly opposites) is always good to people, and will always provide his best possible answer. His love is unconditional, this is why he tolerates my hate.

All that we share is the fact that we star every question we answer, and thumbs up others unconditionally.

Anyone who can guess as to my other personality will face my anger, and will not have the pleasure of being tempted by me.

If god is omniscient we don't have free will. We only think we do.

Could it be that Christians don't want to ponder the idea that if god had the foresight of all evil that would ever occur and allowed it all to happen... he might be responsible?

When conservatives say the ideal family consists of one father and one mother, do they realize they are marginalized families where one parent died, like perhaps a father who was killed in Iraq?

Could you tell a child of a dead war vet his family was not ideal?

What about a two opposite-sex parent family where one parent is highly abusive? Wouldn't a single parent, non-abusive environment be better?

What about a two opposite-sex parent family where both parents abuse narcotics? Wouldn't a stable, financially secure, loving same-sex family be a better environment?

With so many one mother and one father families that are broken up by death and divorce, or that have one or both parents as abusive, neglectful, drug addicted, crazy, etc, isn't unrealistic to restrict children to a one mother and one father family?

I'm of the opinion that ideal families come with one single *loving* and capable parent or two *loving* and capable parents.

cladding philosophy in supernatural trappings?

Wasn't the human mind still developed enough (even if the science wasn't yet) to handle pure philosophy without extra packaging?

As far as putting fear into people for misbehaving, there were enough people then to handle that the same way the legal system handles it today -- without divine intervention.

Even with supernatural trappings, we STILL don't have answers to all of life's mysterious (answers being things that don't require "faith"), so what did this ill-conceived addition of mythology to philosophy accomplish?
