Since you state them as facts, would you please name these Christian athletes, I don't know of any. I consider myself to be liberal on a lot of issues, and I am Christian, and very much so. So liberalism has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity, nor does conservatism. I know most conservatists are racist, and that is certainly not a Christian virtue. Just because an athlete had a long productive career publicly, you don't know what went on in their private lives or while they were on the road. Michael Jordan wound up divorcing his wife after many years. So, I would like to know the athletes, and how you know they are Christian, or does celebrating Christmas make you Christian, or going to church, because neither does. I went to church and celebrated Christmas, and had never accepted Christ as my savior. So, I would appreciate you citing your source.

again your being very chauvinistic and just basing your opinion and views on what you find in your own country. you seem to forget the rest of the world.
most european sports people tend to reflect the population they come from, agnostic, apathist or atheist. many of the world's best long distance runners from kenya, morocco and etheopia are muslim.
the japanese tend not to be christians, mostly buddhist or atheist, the same with the chinese.
get yourself a book called an atlas and you'll see the world is a lot bigger than the place where you live. and, surprise, surprise, they don't all hold the same beliefs as you or your neighbours

Mike Tyson is a Muslim.
Michael Vick is a Christian.
Given your statement, does that mean Christians and Muslims are morons?

I have been involved in various athletic endeavors for more then thirty five years in regional, national and international levels of competition.
I have only known one or two athletes who actually took their faith seriously and practiced the same out of the thousands that I have personally met and known.
Mike Tyson professes to be Muslim supposedly having converted in prison. (I am not saying that he is a devout nor a good Muslims and I have a great deal of respect for Islam, its teachings and the Muslims that I know.)
Mike Vick professes to be a Christian.
I wonder where you got your "facts and figures" from as they do not bear up to what I have personally experienced? They sound like propaganda, lies and crap.
Also, isn't there something in your Christian gospel about judge not lest ye shall be judged? Doesn't respect come out of love, as in love thy neighbor? where is your respect for others?
Here's something that I find interesting. Why don't the majority of Christians actually practice what they love to preach?
May it all be well with you.

Considering the scorn that atheists are met with, they don't advertise their beliefs very often. Pat Tillman was an athlete before he was a soldier, and the public never knew he was an atheist until after his death.
I don't believe anyone has taken an anonymous poll of athletes to see how many of them actually are atheists.

What? Your funny. That sounds like "We know Christianity is true because people have always been willing to die for it" argument.
Anyway, I don't know about the U.S. but if you go to other countries, let's say Japan, you could say something like this.
1) There are many fantanstic athiest/liberal/Shintoist/Buddhist athlestes who have long and productive carrers.
2)There are VERY few Christian athletes who have porductive carrers.
Again, if you went to, let's say a Muslim country, like Iran, you could say,
1)There are many Muslim athletes that enjoy long and productive years.
2)There are VERY few Christian athletes that enjoy long a productive years.
But on another note, a life bassed on prayer and moral living will always help a person out as he/she travels through the trials and temptations of life. I think that is you explanation, but it is one that is common to all religions and spiritual paths.

I have strong doubts that these are facts.
Who has ever heard of statistics showing faith or lack of it among athletes. Show us that. And make it from a reliable source.

Haha. Is that like the Family guy episode when Peter had Chris turn Jewish so he would become rich? Nice try. There are also many Christians in the Ol' South who are dumbasses, fat and beat their wives

Stupid people make better athletes because repetitive motions (pumping iron, shooting endless free throws, etc.) bore those of greater intelligence. Thank you for pointing out that atheists are more likely to be intelligent than believers!
