As you can see, some people are already saying that it's not a religion. Ugh.

Annie - 1 and 2 are the same question that you ask..? Technically, if you just look within this question.. "It's not a religion, it's a relationship" and "It's Faith!". 3 - Me.

Depends on your definition of religion I think!
The term "Christian" means a "follower of Christ"...it is much more a philosophy that a religion in that context. A "religion" is a distinct (organized) set of fundamental beliefs and practices generally agreed on by a group of people.
Here's where the departure happens. There are many "Christian" religions...Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, etc... These religions created a set of beliefs, practices and rules that the MEN who invented them believed would help followers live a "Christian life". People that seek instructions from other people about what they should believe and do ARE practicing a religion...religion is a creation of man!
...but that is NOT Christianity in my mind...Christianity involves making a personal and individual decision to follow the teachings of Christ and then seeking his direction for MY life!...Individually! In that context, Christianity is NOT a religion it is a personal philosophy. That doesn't mean that I don't seek the guidance of other "like-minded" people but I do NOT blindly follow the directions of ANY man or religion.

Christianity is Faith!
Religion could mean any form of ideas, but that does not necessarily mean they are true!
Only Faith in Jesus Christ is the True way!
Jesus said 'I am the way the Truth and the Life, No man cometh to the Father except through me.'

Ideally, christianity is a personal relationship with God ...not a man made religion...but that "man" influence always creeps back into everything...

Religion is man made. Christianity is God breathed. If you follow the Bible literally, then there are no man made rules or rituals to follow. Religions get all caught up in man made rules and rituals and it takes away from focusing totally on God.

Men can make any claim because they are imperfect, corrupt, and deceptive. God never lies because He has none of those traits.
