No it means you fornicated. If you want to be married you have to get a marriage license and have it signed so your marriage is recognized in the state you live. The bible says you have to obey the laws of the land as well. You don't have to have a ceremony or anything that is just tradition.

Actually Paul quoted from Genesis 2 just like Jesus did in Matthew 19.
Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Getting married involves a man and a woman making a covenant before God and at least 2 human witnesses to the effect that they will remain faithful to one another the rest of their natural lives. Having sex with a person doesn't make you "married" to them. In the OT if two young people had sex then they had to get married unless the father of the woman refused to let the man marry his daughter.
Exodus 22:16 "If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to be married and lies with her, he shall give the bride-price for her and make her his wife. 17 If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride-price for virgins.
Today Christians are called to remain sexually pure until marriage. If someone has fallen short of that standard then the best thing that they can do is to resovle from this day forward to remain pure until they get married because we are under grace and not the law but we don't want to turn grace into "disgrace" by knowingly living in sin and rebellion.
1 Corinthians 7:2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. 3 The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
Hebrews 10:11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified....23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. ...26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

that's not what that means. It means it becomes one with her at that moment, it doesn't say joined together in matrimony or anything.
according to all those religions that believe in the "soul" it mean that at that moment the souls become one and the two people having sex become one person.
they are not married.
