It's the same thing w/ non believers. They don't expose their children to religion & spirituallity so they can't make an educated decision when they grow up so they become non believers like you. You are playing around w/ their eternity. What if there is a heaven? Wouldn't you want your kids to go there? By talking bad about God or not talking about him at all you are brainwashing your kids in a different way.
Jesus said:
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.

Religion is not genetic nor is it contagious. It cannot be "given." A religion may be taught. A person may be raised in the tenets of a religion. No religion is inherently "dumb" except in the same context used by youngsters who might say that snot hanging from the nose is "dumb." Any thing with which children disagree is called "dumb" in this day and age. To teach your children a religion with which you disagree would be stupid since you wont know enough about it to pass it on correctly and it apparently would violate your beliefs.

Responsible parents pass on to their children only those things that as parents they believe will be useful and helpful to the kids. Some parents don't have the strength to break away from the rituals of their parents and/or culture, and so for laqck of a better alternative, they just do the same, socially accepted practices. As a parent yourself, you have that choice. It's up to you.

All that I could accept from my parents and their religion, I would salvage and pass on to others, including my children. I would not accept everything that is asserted by everyone in any religion, however. In fact, I do not think I could boil that much complexity down into coherent "rules."
I recommend collecting your favorite quotations--perhaps 300 or more--and then sit down and try to assemble them into a logical set of beliefs. Teach each quotation to your children; do not try to sell them the whole batch as some organized dogma. Invite them to borrow quotations from your pool and adopt them as their own. After you are long dead, they will be quoting from your selections, and they will admire you for sharing these insights.

Some people love the religion their parents chose them and some people don't. I know some one that was Catholic but didn't like it and she switched over to Lutheren. It's all based on you.. if you don't like your religion you be the boss and switch it. What harm could it do to even know more about god? If I were you I'd select a different religion that you would agree to be apart of, learn about it and I bet you will like it. If you don't like it like I said another religion you still learn more about god! GOOD LUCK!

I wish my parents had,, had a religion and it won't have taken me so long to Accept Christ as my Savior,, So.. I have helped my daughter along in this matter,, If I had given it over to Christ at a earlier age I don't think there would have been so much misery in my young adult life..

Hell no will my child have to put up with that crap like I did. She is free to make her own choices about religion. Whatever she chooses will be fine with me. I am an Atheist. Her mother is an Agnostic. She can be whatever she wants to be, or nothing at all. Who am I to make a spiritual choice for another human being?

If you are intelligent and do not believe in your parents religion, why would you brainwash your children into it?
