It is obvious that there are users who patrol Yahoo Answers for the purpose of censoring out people who post specific content (e.g. counter-homophobic and atheistic questions/answers). According to community guidelines this kind of behavior is a violation. The other side of this is that Yahoo Answers seems to be doing nothing to stop this behavior and targeting these kinds of postings as well. This makes me wonder what kind of people are running Yahoo or Yahoo Answers. I'm not talking about some massive religious conspiracy but the likelihood that Yahoo Answers is turning a blind eye to religiously motivated discrimination and harassment and participating in it as well. Would other users who have had similar problems with this site please share your thoughts?

To be honest I think the report function should be restricted to anything illegal if not removed. Also if we get violation notices, perhaps they could tell us what violation(s) we committed.

I think it's more that the YA people take the easy way out. Anyone who gets reported gets censored, and religionists are far more pro-censorship than rational folk - I've only reported someone for spam, never for an answer no matter how ignorant or obnoxious.

It's my understanding that Yahoo outsources the job of editing content to India, (that's where all the violation notices originate) and that the people who do this job and also evaluate our appeals for freedom of speech are virtually all Muslims. They all have phony American-sounding names, but they are not the sort of people who understand that everyone has a right to express their opinions, especially if it goes against religion.

If you wish to complain to Yahoo management, You'll have to use snail-mail, because all our e-mail complaints also pass through the hands of Indian Muslims. Corporate headquarters are in Sunnyvale, CA. I've apparently lost the address.

Perhaps the best way to get Yahoo management's attention would be a sharply worded letter from the ACLU. They may be just the leverage we need to restore freedom of speech to this forum.

I must say this is one of the most entertaining sites I have been on in ages.

The socalled chirstians start complaining about the muslims. They seem 2 think that all who are not born again are terrorists. Too many inbred billy bob trailer people here. They might have a bible but i am sure they have no idea how to read.

Then there is this one fool who keep talking about his fetish with mormon women.

I have respect for all religions, however humanknd is another story.

Actually, Yahoo should stay out of most of the "battles". Its too easy to file a complaint on Yahoo and far to easy for them to agree with the complaint.
I was once complained about because I suggested that the writer should use spell check. And was told this was hurtful to another person. Yahoo seems to be supportive of ignorance.
Just keep posting and answering - exercise your Free Speech rights, maybe someday, Yahoo will catch on.

maximum Fundies will use any communicate board they are able to to unfold their legalism and spew some judement through fact they're plenty bigger than each physique else. As a Christian I have not have been given any qualms with getting an answer with some scripture in it-the word could nicely be very useful, yet I do have a issue with human beings utilising it as a hammer to beat human beings into submission and that i concern that those those that use it in that way do plenty extra harm than stable. Scaring human beings faraway from Chrisianity and giving it an usual undesirable vibe.

No. I do agree that some of the questions and answers are a little out there but i don't think Yahoo! Answers has a fundamentalist religious agenda.

One of my answers was just removed. It was a list of URL's to information about the pagan origins of Jesus and the ten commandments. The only reason anyone could have reported it as a violation is because they don't agree with my views. This is censorship, pure and simple.

I almost didn't respond, but then I realized that we should not simply sit back and allow ourselves to be censored. There are those who believe that atheists should keep our views to ourselves while they try to force their beliefs on all of us. This un-American attitude is unacceptable.

personally I think there should be a hearing and whoever flags a comment should stand up and say I did it.

I also think yahoo answers is run by a machine and there is little if any human involvement.

I have asked for a real person to email me about some issues I have outstanding but nothing.
