I used to be an insanely irrational Christian but gradually started to question the religious when I saw flaws in it that no one would explain to me, and finally snapped when my fundie brother insisted that I was going to die in the end times if I associated with homosexuals (srsly).

So I'm curious, what made you all lose faith?

And not just ex-Christians; any ex-religious devotees are welcome to answer.

I am being told that I’m not a Christian because I don’t have a religion. I thought what makes a person a Christian is accepting Jesus Christ as my savior. Tell me what a true Christian is then if I’m wrong. What’s a Christian?

Source? Proof? Link?

Did it consider:

All matter everywhere over ~billions of years?

Or did it state the odds of some small number of proteins assembling themselves in a certain way (say, the exact # to make an amino acid) in a small amount of time?

religions are suppose to help the poor and needy. thats why you thite. or give a percantage of you wage to the church. so why not just build small building and use more of the money to help the poor and needy. do you think god cares if you have hardwood pews or if you sitting on a lovely patch of grass he created.

I don't get why so many people are so religious and put god above all else. To me, you have to see it to believe it. I've never seen god in my life. I just think sometimes good things happen to people and sometimes bad things happen to people. It's so absurd when celebrities go up and thank 'god' above all others. I would definitely thank my parents and fans. How lame. =) Anyone agree or disagree? If you're reasonable and can make me change my mind, I'll give you the 10 points. Until then, I don't believe! Please....don't lecture. Get to the point. thanks.

I know he is the Son of God, Prophet,Teacher, Rabbi, and a bunch of other wonderful names. Either he is God or he isn't.

look evolution AND christianity have concrete evidence hard enough to denouce both of them. i am currently leaning towards the christian side because i have witnessed myself the truth that god exists, but because it is my testimony i cant present that as evidence so i wont. in this question is
evolution:1.no links between evolutionary stages(specialized evolution is a ludicrous theory o dont feed it to me)2.the chances of it happening:1x 10(to the) 100000000...ect. power(dont feed me the 1/1000000000000000 because if u look at the evidence you will come up with a number soo utterly massive ull be disgusted at thinking it happened(although if the universe were around for infinity the chances of it happening look a little better)3.carbon dating
carbon dating CANNOT give a reading over 50,000 years if u dont believe me look it up
plus when using carbon dating on different parts of the fossil they end up with vastly different times. thus it IS a faulty system

"Sixth: Another feature of religious tolerance in Islam is the idea that, where religious differences exist, the followers of various religious traditions should engage one another on a basis of mutual respect and kindness. Islam enjoins Muslims to conduct any dialogue or even disagreement about religious matters in a spirit of gentleness, sensitivity, and good will and never with hostility or violence. Allah says in the Holy Quran:

And dispute ye not with the People of the Book except with means better T.Q., Sura 29, The Spider, verse 46.

Recognizing that Allah, the Lord of all, is the sole Judge and greatest knower, Muslims are encouraged to approach all such discussions with gentleness:

not even the eternal resting place of Virgin Marry is mentioned, what about Jesus himself .. Christians don't even have single similar story about the death of the Christ!!

is it even the real thing (bible) that we hold in our hands today? we even have the six book story & the story of rocking table and choosing the remaining piece!!

no really, what happened to Marry? what about dogma theories?? are they acceptable???

Muhammad had the truth available to him which is the Torah and Gospel we have today. If Muhammad followed the truth then why would he agree with an angel that taught against the word of God? If Muhammad did not agree with the word of God...How could he be a prophet of God? We know that Muhammad did not speak directly to God therfore he would have had to depend on the word of God to know he was hearing from an angel of God and not Satan. Could we have a prophet of God who did not know God?

Earlier I was very depressed because I thought people like Dick Cheney and Karl Rove would never have to pay for anything they did, simply because I believed that everyone would go to Heaven (defined in my mind as dimensions). I believed that a person who was evil on earth would still go to Heaven, but to a low dimension, while people who were better would go to higher dimensions. But then I wondered why I believed in demons (which I do, since that's what convinced me to go back to religion), but I didn't believe in any kind of Hell? And then I thought that the whole "Satan's minions" thing was right. There are people who become Satan's minions because they're evil. They crave power and control, and will stomp on all who oppose them. And those people are going to Hell, because why would a just God let them into Heaven? I don't include those who are athiests, unless they're evil, and most of the athiests I know aren't. I don't include anyone else either, unless they're truly evil.

I’m Christian. I’m spiritual but have no religion. I don’t believe in organized religion, because to me it seems to guide people away from the path that they are supposed to be following (like thinking for ones self instead of a group). I also believe it is one of the main reasons for bigotry and hatred in the world. I follow the Ten Commandments as we’re told to in order to learn and live in the best ways possible. I sometimes want my family to be religious but then I quickly change my mind about the whole thing, because I can’t and don’t want to choose. Do you believe God intended for people to have a religion? Do you think in the same manner as I do? Do you think I should have a religion? What else?
