I am being told that I’m not a Christian because I don’t have a religion. I thought what makes a person a Christian is accepting Jesus Christ as my savior. Tell me what a true Christian is then if I’m wrong. What’s a Christian?

You do not necessarily have to be baptized since Jesus shows mercy to everyone even to a man who died next to him who was not baptized. However the bible is clear that a follower of Christ will worship his father and give him exclusive devotion.

"Jehovah is the Almighty God, the only true God, and he rightfully exacts exclusive devotion." (Ex 20:5)

A true Christian is someone who repents and that means to turn from sin to God. Have you done this?

Sin is breaking the Ten Commandments. Ex. 20

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Heb. 9:27

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Rev. 21:8

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Luke 13:3

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15

The perfect example of repentance is found in Psalm 51.

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance. Matt. 3:8

When we repent, God give us a new heart and new desires and as a result we are biblically born again. The Bible says we will know true Christians by their fruit. Do you like seeing people getting saved? Do you share the Gospel? Do you like fellowshipping with other Christians? Has the Bible come "alive" to you? Do you sin willingly or do you stumble? These are only questions that you can answer.

Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. 2 Cor. 13:5

Just examine your life in light of Scripture. The Bible will tell you if you are a true Christian or not.

God can't lie. Titus 1:2

There is something you need to know about religion. Religion is mans way of reaching God and it fails miserably. God however wrote the Bible to reach man and it's God's way only. Religion will take you straight to hell. I call myself Christian because I need a savior. It's that simple.

Church can be beneficial to your fellowshipping with other Christians and in your worship of God. We are saved "First" by faith in Christ Jesus, by the Grace of God, then God will change us and have us do the things He desires. My guess is at this point in your relationship with Christ Jesus, reading and studying Gods Word is more important. Don't be surprised though, eventually, if you feel the Holy Spirit tugging on your heart a bit and telling you to look for a church to worship in. For now, just keep praying and reading Gods Word and spend time with Him every day. God Bless You.

Did you know that there's no such thing as 'religion?' The word 'religion' is not even mentioned in the Bible once. A true Christian is a person believing in God, following His Laws, and so on. So therefore, a true Christian is a 'Believer.'

And what you're saying is correct, as long as you truly mean it and following God's Laws.

A christian is someone who accepts Jesus Christ as there savior, but they have to truly mean it in their heart. But you also want to show it in the way you act, you want to build a relationship with God and share the love Jesus. Show every1 that because you have God their is something good, something amazing in you that is different from any feeling anything else can give you. Pray to God and follow his word so you can build a relationship with him. Share his love with every1 even ppl who r cruel and mean. If you hav accepted Jesus truly you are a christian, but to set a good example and make ppl believe u, show it!

i think a true Christian is someone who believes in God, and wants to please Him. Accepting Jesus as your savior is definitly part of it.They read their Bible and don't back down on their faith just because people make fun of them. You get baptized. You would go to church to learn more and become a better Christian. i'm not saying that if you don't read your Bible or if you sin, that you are not a Christian. These are just steps to being a better Christian.

It changes depending on the person and if you have done anything. You know, the minute you've done something wrong they'll say you weren't a "true" Christian. Funny, I didn't think anybody was perfect. Including Christians.

A Christian is someone who is Christ-like. A Christian is one who does righteousness, a doer of the Word, and not a hearer only.
A Christian is one who does what Christ and His disciples teach, they are obedient children of God.
A Christian is a good tree, that does not produce bad fruits.
You will know who is a Christian and who is not by thier fruits, their deeds.

Mt:7:20: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23: And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. ( SIN )

Christians do not do any of these things:

1Cor:6:9: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10: Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

nor any of these:

Gal:5:19: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20: Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,21: Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

All those who claim to be Christain, yet continue to do these things above without ceasing, are not Christian but will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

you must also be baptized
Peter did say that baptism saves you
You must be born of water and Spirit

the Bible is insistent on baptism
