There is a lot of hate in this world, and a lot of people
use God and Religion as a means to hate and feel
justified in doing so.

It's pretty simple: if a leader tells his people that they need to risk their lives because they need, say, that sea port over there, he is going to get a lethargic response at best.
Tell them that their god is being challenged and they will become infuriated. The "religious" wars were really no such thing. but humanity is becoming wiser. Westerners, anyway, are a little more likely to support a war for something concrete, as opposed to theology. Even if it doesn't seem like it; the religious backlash we are experiencing today is from a rather small minority. Though they do have political influence more than their mere numbers should justify. That's kind of alarming. But civilization is a slow process.

Did you count the 60 million killed by Stalin for Communism. A similar number killed by Mao Zedung in China? These occurred within the 20th Century.

Ya i guess the organization of the Soviet Union in which they killed hundreds of millions of people wouldn't be considered a war... just aimless and meaningless killing.
