This was asked before by another poster. What do you think of the answer that I found? Apparently it only took one Christian, Lewis Latimer:

"...the main weakness of Edison's bulb - their short life span (generally only a few days.) Latimer set out to make a longer lasting bulb. Latimer devised a way of encasing the filament within an cardboard envelope which prevented the carbon from breaking and thereby provided a much longer life to the bulb and hence made the bulbs less expensive and more efficient. This enabled electric lighting to be installed within homes and throughout streets Latimer applied for a patent for the "Process of Manufacturing Carbons" and it was granted in January 1882. "

You could choose to write as many names as you wanted, and it would be nearly impossible to connect the killings to you. You can also decide how the person will die. Would you use it? Whom would you kill and why?

Not tyring 2 b rude, just curious. Think about it 4rm my point of view. Im a christian. If im right and ur wrong, u suffer 4 eternity and i am rewarded 4 eternity. If ur right and im wrong, we both share the same fate. We both rot in the ground. You guys are taking a huge risk. By being a christian you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Atheists have nothing to gain and everything to lose. Are you that sure that you're right that you'll take a huge risk like that?

This one is for the person who responded to my JW question about windowless churches...

With big fancy windows? Isn't the church you and I and not the wood, brick, and mortar? Not the pews, the hymn books, the pulpit, etc.

Can you imagine if we christians met like they did in ancient times, in homes etc., the amount of money free to feed the hungry, help widows and children, etc.?

It's obvious that the universe has numerous creators!

If you find a watch lying on the ground, you know that it has a designer. You also know that this watch probably has a manufacturer too. And somebody had to get the materials to make the watch. See, the universe is like that! There MUST be many gods!

Here are a few definitions of cult from the dictionary:

1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology. a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols

So isn't Christianity too a CULT according to definition?

Well, consider the universe and how everything in it works. I'd say that YHWH was big on science rather than the supernatural.

It seems to me that he used nature and the natural working of things to acomplish much. There are stories of intervention but even they were done through the medium of his creation rather than 'magic.'

If you believe in YHWH as the one God anyways...

How? Could for instance one person’s subconscious influence another’s subconscious. We as individuals throughout the globe are interrelated in the subconscious. – Imagine it as there being a transmission band between our minds and the global mind and the subconscious. If you get on the right wavelength, there is no separation between the subconscious and global thought. Now let us imagine that a given desire is voluntarily introduced into cosmic thought to reach everyone’s subconscious. If for example enough people thought ‘peace’ wouldn’t it be wonderful if peace could prevail. Implausible likely, improbable even more likely but a nice thought!

Periodically people ask for recommendations for the best sites about Wicca. For a change, I'd like to ask for recommendations on the WORST sites about the religion -- sites that are inaccurate, insulting, inflammatory, or just plain hilariously bad.

So, what would you say are the worst sites about Wicca out there?

You can pick which rules you don't like and change them, is that it?

If the "word of god" was for you to worship on Saturday how do you justify going against the "word"?

Sorry, I don't capitalize that biblical monster.

Our creator enjoyed hundred's of millions of years of experimentation with lower life forms, he then brought forth dinosaur life, and he was proud of his creations. He admired ther evolution for over a hundred million years , but the dinosaurs and other life couldn't appreciate God. God needed to be recognized and appreciated by his creations, so God tweaked things a little, but still his creations seemd stupid and unmanageable. That's when GOD became terribly frustrated, he contemplated mass extinction again, maybe configuring the continents and ocean currents again. But then our creator eyeballed his small mammals and he saw potential, after all they were surviving with his top species the dinosaurs and they could be nasty. God thought if I help the mammals with being nocturnal, give them better hearing, a thumb for grasping and an orbital eye-socket, they might evolve into somthing special. But then he thought wow it's going to be a slow process with his dino's around so he sent a

The following is copied from another question:
--------------------
"[A risk of believing in god is:] humiliation... especcially if you are a baby christian...ur all fired up...trying to prove ur love of God..trying to be helpful and then some jerk comes along who knows the bibles inside and out...who is not christian..and makes you look like a fool.

there are 2 times in the life of a christian that it can backfire...When ur a newborn christian and you dont know much...or when you have been one so long..and you have seen so much bad stuff still..it makes you doubt...and when u doubt..you lose touch with God.

i think that is why alot of christians turn atheist... "
