The question you cited would probably be the MOST annoying to them. People don't LIKE to be told that they *have* to believe in something. I'm a Christian, and I don't like someone telling *me* that -- about ANYTHING. I'll believe whatever I WANT to believe, and that which I choose to believe is NO one else's business.

AS a Christian, I *do* proselytize from time to time, in keeping with Jesus' Great Commission. But I ALWAYS do do *passively* -- such as by offering tracts, or leaving tracts in public places, to be accepted or not, as people wish.

I would ****NEVER**** tell anyone that they *have* to "believe" ANYthing!

To "goldwing110083" -- Believe what you want, but having been born prior to WW II, I know for a fact that the Holocaust DID happen.

Assuming you're over age 26, how ludicrous would you think it was if someone told you that the Challenger never blew up?

Same thing! The Holocaust, tragically, was VERY real. And unspeakably horrendous. WHY whould you choose to live in debnial of that? It is WELL-documented.

To "Fat Cat" -- GREAT response! Next time a fundie asks me that, I'll have to give that response, rather than my usual (and truthful), "I'm already a Christian." I'd love to see the look on his face! Hilarious!

The "most annoying thing" a religious person has ever said to me is anything they say to me, in the name of their god or doctrine of their faith, and then behave in a manner that is contradictory.

I have learned to be patient and understanding and respectful, and earnestly try to celebrate and appreciate all diversity. I have, however, zero tolerance for religious hyprocisy, especially when so many won't declare that they are merely TRYING to practice their faith.

It is easier, I believe, to deal with what religious people call pagans, or non-believers. You don't get scripture quoted or a condescending remark (since they believe that they are superior) while a knife is going in your back--somewhere.

Think about it: you do believe in something! You believe that there is nothing in which TO believe. (Existentialism, anyone?)

that they could prove the Earth is 6000 years old by math, that they could prove the existence of their god by math. It isn't the stupidity of the statements that annoyed me, it was that the person stating this rubbish is a very smart man, somehow lead into lunacy by the far right wing churches he attends 'religiously." This was one of my best friends...I can no longer stand being around him, for I have lost all respect for him...I just cannot respect people who behave stupidly and spout ignorance as fact. He has also become a great historical revisionist...I just found out the Holocaust didn't happen, that is was all left wing propaganda ! I believe that was the final straw as far as I am concerned.

Yes. Something like "well everyone believes in SOMETHING". Appeals to intimidation are also quite annoying, if only because they are used so frequently..."you'll see one day when God sends you to hell!"...haha. No wait, I decided the most annoying thing that a religious believer has said to me is "how can you be so illogical?".

"Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult."- that has got to be the most annoying of all. Even after I tell those fuc*tards that I was in the cult for 20 years and I K-N-O-W IT IS A CULT. They constantly tell me they are not a cult.

ha ha nothing is annoying. its just curiosity. the question i get asked the most is "so you don't believe in god? what do you believe in?"
i say.... "myself."

they look at me weird but its fun. people just have to open there eyes and be more sincere about other beliefs not just shut them down.

When the use a verse in a bible, and curse us out, for not believing in what they say.

If they're so morally correct. Why do they laugh at someone else misfourtune. Immediate, they judge us in going to hell.

You have to believe in something, so I told them I believe in fairies, but they still insisted I must believe in Jesus.

So I agreed and believed in Jesus, but they were not satisfied, then they wanted me to believe in the sacred phantom, I think his name is Phinneas, though I'm not up on all that Biblcial stuff.

But they just keep increasing their demands. Why can't I just believe in fairies and leave it at that??

After telling some door knockers I was an atheist they mumbled some crap about how the bible portrays heaven and said "Now isn't that nice" and "Sounds lovely doesn't it".

That I chose to be an atheist. I chose nothing. Reality came down hard on me, like a 10-ton rock.
